    2019 - No SEASON Mode? Thoughts...

    If what I'm seeing in these video updates is evidence of the various modes, I'm very disappointed that SEASON MODE is being left out. Those of us who just want to enjoy a singular season - especially the historical files that are compilated - are being squeezed. This "Road to October" just seems like a waste of space - anyone can just sim through games they don't want to play in another mode. I want to be able to shut a lot of things off and play through a season and enjoy seeing what I can replicate or even achieve from a historical point of view.

    The thing is - MLB The Show gets the HISTORICAL element of the game of baseball itself or else they wouldn't tout those players. So why neglect the idea that in the roster sharing portion of their game they allow us to create HISTORICAL files, knowing we'll want to use them in just a singular season???

    Frustrating... Just wanted to vent.

      I'm just confused as to why they ever even took it out, then how they couldn't rectify their mistake by putting it back. With online franchise they at least had the excuse of it apparently messing with the servers, but Seasons wasn't doing anything. It's not like they made some big change to franchise that meant Seasons would have needed updating, they seemingly took it out for no reason whatsoever without telling anyone.

      I'm still not 100% that it's not coming back as I can't really see any reason why it shouldn't, as still nothing has changed to franchise that would mean any changes to Seasons are required. As far as I can tell, there is no reason for it not to be in the game, other than SDS just not wanting it in there for some reason (maybe they want to force people to play Franchise or the new mode?)

          I'm mad as hell. Why would they take it out? What was it hurting by being left alone? How much of a sacrifice is it really to put it back in? Have they ever spoken on it officially? If they have, I never saw it.



          To be fair, even in its last iteration, I wasn't completely happy with it. I would have liked more customization options for season length and scheduling, but it was so much fun to just do a fantasy draft, and play a shortened season with those rosters, without having to deal with all the other baggage that comes with franchise mode. It was simple and fun, in spite of its shortcomings.



          But I'm starting to feel like it's SDS's M.O now to lessen the offline options, so that more people play DD. You're going to play DD whether you want to or not. Oh, sure, you can play franchise mode, but they're going to stagnate the hell out it so you get bored and frustrated with it, and start looking at other things. Like DD.


          That's how it feels, and it's maddening.

              It's gone and never coming back just like how it went from madden. SDS are becoming more like EA every year.

              the dumb mentality that single player and offline games are dead,, we get RDR2 God of war and spiderman, and then we get trash like fallout 76 and Anthem. ignorance of companies is just ridiculous right now. IF EA had their way RDR2 would be that multiplayer grind crap pay to win.

              which is exactly where sports games are heading the grind grind grind grind bore you to death unless you give me money!!

                  Season mode was the mode I've played for years mainly cause you are able to shorten the length of the season playing franchise mode having to play 162 games takes forever and I hate simulating games

                              Thoughts? Honestly it sucks for those who played and enjoyed season mode, for it to have been removed in not the most tactful of manners and then to not be added, but yet replaced with a mode that isn't really close to being similar in nature.

                              I don't play, and never played Season Mode, so I don't know how accurate this statement will be, but I think that if they added the option to reduce the number of games in franchise mode, that would help ease some of the pain/frustration.

                              Now I understand that franchise mode and season mode had more differences than just the number of games, but from the comments I've seen, the number of required games to play to get through a season seems to be the biggest draw for season mode players.

                              Again, I could be completely off in that thinking.
                              I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

                              I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                                  My thought is that once they removed it that I never expected to see it return. So it does not surprise me that it is missing.

                                      I used to play season mode in older games, but when I began to have more free time at home as a freelancer, I could do franchise (I'm average 2-3 seasons now). I feel season shouldn't be separated to begin with. It should be in franchise as an option. It should be you choose franchise and you select franchise (play up to 30 seasons) or season (play just one). I never understood why it was a separate mode. It's not like it's taking up a lot of resources. I feel the pain of season guys for sure. Not everyone is lucky like me to work at home and have free time out of the a**. People have other commitments. It's mind-boggling why they took it out, but I feel if they do bring it back, it should be a part of franchise as an option.

                                              I think it really stinks.

                                              In the year 2019, you can't just play a single season worth of baseball games in a AAA title on the PS4. That's a really weird state of affairs we find ourselves in. Almost makes me question if SKYNET has taken over Sony's telemetry system.

                                                  ya it's gone.

                                                  but if i'm forced to play franchise at least give me an option to change the # of games I play.

                                                  Do we know if we are forced once again to play 162 games in franchise?

                                                      You are spot on! I didn´t buy last years version because i just don´t have the time to play 162 games, and simulating games just absolutely kills the immersion factor for me.



                                                      To be able to play a 30 game season was perfect, and that´s why im still holding to MLB 17, but the rosters aren´t there for the new season so that is a huge bummer...

                                                          I just feel like most companies are pissing on the "older" gamer who wants the potential of simplification...

                                                          In another thread I've shared I'm 46 - have a life that pulls me in many directions. I just want to play a single season. I don't care about Spring Training (though having an option to sift through cuts & NRI's for the last week might be a fun option). But I don't care about future contracts, etc - just want to play a season.

                                                          And MOSTLY because of the historical rosters and their value. I want to play ONE season from a full historical roster. And since SDS provides us with the "historical" option in roster searches / creations - and since they MARKET the historical players - they MUST KNOW we want to use full historical rosters within the game modes. Season Mode is THE PERFECT way to use them.

                                                          Just frustrating... Appreciate the thoughts here.
