NBA 2K19 - Post Moves Thread

Lets all share some of our favorite post moves....especially some of the new ones this year. Currently my top 3 favorite are
    • Fake Spin into Post Hook - This one forces the defender to react to the fake baseline spin and creates A TON of space for the post hook the other way.

    • Shimmy Up and Under - Its been my go to for years but now you have more control over the direction you want to finish in. Love it.

    • Post stepback - This one is new this year. You can now fluidly do a stepback out of the post that can be turned into a jumpshot or just drive right by the defender when he tries to close out.

I showed a lot of these moves in the video below vs online opponents:

My favorite move by far is the post step back . It’s my go to move .

Is the fake spin different this year ? It just makes me change post directions .

How do you do it ? I want to try the fake into the hook .

Alot of Embiid on Embiid action there, if they keep the post play like that, it'll make me think about buying the game. Im way too biased towards post scoring.

I flick the right stick towards the baseline in a slight diagonal direction. Basically towards the shoulder that is handling the ball

Forever Versatile has a lot to contribute to this thread.

I love the new drop step that chains into a step back.

It’s where you hold both triggers and push the R stick left or right.

Already posted this in the highlights thread, but figured I'd post it here too since it's my big man.

My favorite part in this video is the spin move on the last clip...I spun exactly as the PG was reaching in so if you slow it down, you can see me spin and put the ball just barely out of his reach as a result.

My go-to moves at the moment are:

                        1. The drop-step is still a great move if you have position...I especially like to do the drop step out of the triple threat rather than while dribbling.

                        2. The fake baseline spin and then fade back towards the baseline like I did in the first clip.

                        3. Post step-back.

One of my few complaints is that the shot timing on the shimmy hooks feels really weird. I usually don't play with the shot meter on but I've flipped it on so that I can go back and watch the meter fill up on the shimmy hooks and it's literally a late release BEFORE my guy even finishes shimmying. I don't know if it's just the specific animation I picked or what, but it seems like the only two options are to pump-fake (releasing it early obviously) or get a late release (by releasing it way before the shot actually goes up). I've gotten all the other post shots down but that one feels really bizarre to me.

So trying to get back into post scoring after not doing a lot last year.

Having issues with up-and-under moves. In the training drill, you have to start the 'under' immediately after you initiate the ball fake. This means there is no time to evaluate the situation. So you have to commit to the under even if the defender doesn't bite at all. I found if I don't start the under move as soon as I've initiated the fake, it just doesn't fire as an up and under. Anyone else having this issue?

It's also not clear how I attempt different 'kinds' of unders. Part of the problem is that the drill for this has the terrible fixed camera which screws up everything.

As far as the drill, they will only count it as an up and under if you link into the immediate under. You can play around with the 'under' options though by moving RS in different directions after the fake. I dont know if your control scheme is set to Absolute or Camera Relative, but you may want to change it to Absolute for the drill if the camera is bothering you.

During an actual game, you can take your time and evaluate what the defender does after the fake...kind of like I do in the video I posted....

This was the one metered hook from last year....the timing was the same then...extremely quick timing. This is why I use the move as more as a branch or setup...
