    "Buying your Player"

At time ,it seems like theres alot of animosity towards people who are accused of "buying" their MyPlayer. And that animosity come from the "grinders". What I mean by buyers are people who invest VC to make their player an 85 out the bat. What I mean by grinders are people who like to start off at the 60 and "grind"to get their MP to 85+

I consider myself a top notch 2k player, like a lot of other ballers do. Been playing it since the original dreamcast. And Ill say this now, I buy the Anniversary edition and I buy VC to put myplayer up to an 85 off the bat. My reasons are simple. I'm 40, I work full time, I have a wife, 2 kids and I can afford to buy the edition and add the VC. I grew up on games and its my way to unwind.
Also, unlike 20 years ago, I dont have the time or patience to start at a 60 if I dont have to. Doesnt make me less of a fan, less skilled (try me if you dare). And I still have to grind for my badges earn my wins on the court like everyone else. In 2k18, I got my guy up to a 93 with maxed out badges.
I play ProAm most of the time. When the season starts I also play 2 full 82 game seasons of MYGM on HOF default. I always get 2 seasons in with the first team. Then I start another season when the trading deadline passes for an updated feel. And I follow that up with a another season starting from the playoffs, reflecting the real playoffs.

But my point of this was not to brag, as I know there are alot of skilled 2k players like me, and maybe some more skilled. But I just wanted to defend the ballers who spend the extra dough for the perks. If you like to start off at the 60 and work your way up, more power to you. I dont knock you at all. Just dont knock me or others because we choose a different way.

Yeah, but because of people who spend money the grind becomes unbearable.

you basically admitted that you stepped into 2k's trap willingly and with open eyes. even worse, they've created the trap and offered you to step into it and you thanked them for it ("oh, you made a full price game, in which i either can grind like an idiot or i can skip the grind if i pay you. thanks for being so nice, 2k! here, take my money!!!").

or in other words, what you are saying is, they screwed you from behind but you're too weak to withstand anyways.

You don't have to explain yourself. You buy the game. You do what you have to do to get the enjoyment you want out of it. People are going to complain about VC or DLC (some are already crying about Spiderman DLC) til the cows come home. If people are willing to pay, any company worth a damn will accompdate that. And there's nothing wrong with it.

Who cares about VC buyers. I never understood the slander. Some People automatically assume you're bad if you buy your MyPlayer. You could be a legit grinder and be absolutely trash. It's your money do whatever you see fit bruh. I'll be buying VC to kick things off and I have no shame in doing so.

                      Re: "Buying your Player"

one can only imagine how the idea of vc was pitched in the 2k hq.

pitch guy - "guys, what about this: we sell our game at full price, but we implement an in game currency people can buy with real money. and to boost our sales, we make the game an horrendous grind. also, all other in game stuff can only be bought with it. what do you think?"

board guy - what? i don't think that's going to fly. people will hate us. it's a money grab. i don't think our customers are stupid enough to not see through that cheap scheme.

pitch guy - no, no, no, no! people are stupid enough, believe me! we will sell it in a way that it's for those that don't have the time to play through the grind, but we don't call it grind obviously. of course we will not tell them, that the grind is only there to push people into buying vc.

board guy - okay, let's give it a try!

Haven't seen anybody here and on reddit picking on people buying VC, no idea where he come from with this. Sounds exactly like some dude that got banned recently here with bragging.

No clue what banned guy you're talking about but It's been discussed on here a few times especially prior to 2k17 or 18 dropping. There was even a thread that tried to start a petition to get rid of VC on 2k. I've seen quite a few people frown upon it on here saying it's an unfair advantage, cheap route to take etc. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but I personally don't knock people for what they do with their own money.

I can't speak for the folks on Reddit. All it takes it a little bit of research man. Do that before you accuse somebody of lying. SMH

No issue with people using VC to get their character to 85.

If 2K makes the grind to 85 too steep, blame 2K (actually, i meant take-two) not the players.

(yes, I know, incentives, blah blah, money, blah.)

I kind of get the argument of people who feel like it's a rip off and not worth it. I do. At the same time, if that's what I need to do to get enjoyment out of a product that's what I'm doing.

I buy WWE2K for 60$. Then I buy the accelerator pack for 5$ to unlock everything because I'm not spending hours playing with wrestlers I don't even know. I want to play with Dude Love and Shawn Micheals in the old Raw and WCW arenas. Those wrestlers are 30K to 60K in VC a piece and there are dozens of them! You might earn 2K in VC for a good match. Forget that. I could argue that the wrestlers should be there for free or easier to unlock. They aren't and this is what it is.
