Re: Madden NFL 19 Hit Stick Has Been Tweaked, Details Here
I get why they did it. But EA needs to stop trying to make things "simpler" and instead strive to make things right. There are guys in the NFL that are not very big or strong but can deliver big hits. This is going to take them out of the equation -

Nice, that will be a welcome change. I do like that they explained why it wasn't added at launch. It's not even the end of the month, and we've got what looks like a solid update.Comment

Then how do you quantify them? There has to be some way to quantify and identify those who can vs those who can't right? You don't want a QB able to lay a HS after a int right?Follow me on Twitter @T4VertsComment

How is this going to take them out of the equation? It took the strength rating out of the equation, that should help the smaller guys that are big hitters because they should have a high hit power rating if they are a known big hitter. By simplifying the equation I think it will make big hits play out better because it literally now comes down to what their hit power rating is. I guess we'll have to see by playing the game and trying it out.Comment

These are good changes and hopefully it will result in less of those DL hit-sticking backs in a phonebooth type hits that are so overly common. Overall though I wish they would just do away with the Hit Stick entirely. Get rid of the hit power rating, make use of the big hitter trait and grant those guys contextual animations when the speed and momentum lines up during gameplay. The hit stick has never been a skill mechanic as it's always been so heavily geared towards success that there's never been a reason not to use it. I don't know how much this will change things but I've been routinely dropping TE's and RB's with my corners like it's nothing so hopefully it will cut down on some of that and be more risk/reward.Comment

Thank God they changed it. Now if there is an actually broken tackle that branches off a hit stick I'll be impressed.
And I'll be honest, the obsessive hit sticking with zero risk was so annoying it was almost a game breaker for me.Comment

Just give those guys a higher power rating in order to deliver the hit stick in the right situation. I prefer it ratings based anyway. I like the change.

Decent change to hit stick. Can't argue with the rationale.Comment

Has anybody noticed if this affects cpu controlled players. Will this reduce all the hits where hb's are dropped to a dead stop?Comment
