    Big Brother 20

Yes, Big Brother is still around despite how bad last summer was (though Celebrity BB which has been renewed for S2, was actually decent). Premieres Wednesday June 27th at 8pm EST(2 hour show).

Knowing how BB has been like the past few years, what are peoples expectations? For me, I'm just hoping for the "real Big Brother" to return. Unfortunately, most of these seasons probably end up like 17,19 and so on. Showmances running the house, people too stupid to do anything good in the game, houseguests more focused on boosting their social media following over trying to win the game.

Heading into this season, my personal BB Rankings of the seasons I've seen:

    7(AS),8,12,10,5 as "top tier"
    Celeb,18,16,14,6,17,11 as "middle tier"
    13,19,15,9 as "bottom tier"

funny you say that about the CELEB edition.
I for one thought it was horrible.
I am showing my age here but it was the only season of BB that I didn't finish.

Some news I read about this season, it sounds like many here might have just been alternates from last year. Further proving that they constantly cast from the same cookie cutter template each time. Every season you have certain stereotypes and lookalikes.

From a gameplay standpoint it might not have been good, but I found cast to be tolerable. At least it had some likable players, though best player didn't win, and having uneven number of men and women messed with things too.

I really enjoy BB, my daughter and I have bonded over it thru the years.
We watch every episode together each season. We DVR them during the week and watch them all at once during the weekend.
That being said you are correct. The cast lately have been pretty predictable and caste from the same stone. That stone is "im here to be seen but not really play the game".
I am also over bringing back old contestants.
The have grown stale to me.
Bring in new people that want to play the game and are not concerned about their social media or being famous.

The problem on BB with this isn't the contestants they bring back. It's the fact that they always bring back old players to play with new players. That formula doesn't work so great. First time it was fine (Jessie in BB11) but after that it just became pointless. Rigging BB13 for the vets, BB14 giving the vets a big advantage for part of the game (I had no problem with the coach twist, IF they kept it for the entire season. But every last person watching the show KNEW the coaches would become players one day), then we started having family of HGs and so on after that, and then BB18 with another vet/newbie season and then BB19 with a vet and sheep.

The best season in BB history (not just my opinion, but opinions of many BB fans) was BB7. They was the only all-star season they've ever had and it was so great. Chilltown at their best. Even on Survivor, some of their best/most competitive seasons ever happened to be ones where you had all returning players(all stars, heroes vs villains, and second chance).

            I loved Season 7 too!
            Loved Will on this show.
It still amazes me how good he was at BB.

Will was the better player, but I liked Boogie more. Watching their diary room highlights never gets old. Though he'd never return because you know the target would be way too big on him, even in an all vet season. Even boogie in BB 14 was targeted because Janelle was still mad at him for bb7.

There's so many deserving people who should return that haven't. Have all stars 2 one day.

              Eric, Jen bb8
              Keesha bb10
              Enzo, Lane bb12
              Dom bb13
              Dani bb14
              Amanda bb15
              Caleb, Donny bb16
              Vanessa, John bb17
              Victor bb18
              Jess, Christmas bb19
              1 female from bbott

That's my pick if they ever had a new all star /second chance season

Read a post about this year's casts Instagram. Everyone who has it(majority of them) has over 1000 followers. About half of those with over 10,000.

Between that and the fact that people here were alternates last year, the casting on this show is a joke. Sure, why cast real people who are fans? Recruit, and hit up strangers on Instagram with good follower count.......

                    Re: Big Brother 20

I hate how I'm no longer excited for BB premieres. I miss those days of being so excited and thinking the season is gonna be great. But having BB15 be horrible, 16 was decent(to me,I think I like it better now than I did when it aired, mainly in comparison to other seasons around it), 17 was generic, 18 was better, and then 19 followed in 15s footsteps.

The only positive I guess in all of this is how even numbered BBs have historically been good. (2 with Chilltown, 4 I don't remember much, 6 had multiple memorable people and great comps, 8 & 10 were such great seasons, 12 was one of my faves as well because of the Brigade, 14 with Dan owning everyone again was fun, and 16/18 like I said have been the best since BB15).

Hopefully for once I can actually pick good houseguests in my pre-season picks and not just have most if not all eliminated before jury:
                    Spoiler

My early pick for F2: Tyler & Faysal (or Chris)
My guess at what F2 actually is: Haleigh, JC

As bad and controversial as that season was, she was the standout player of that season. Not to mention she is friends with one of the producers on the show, and I remember all throughout that season people kept saying BB was rigging the season for her to win because of that. Lets not forget "Helen was pushed" lol.

I always find it amusing how Maj remembers one season from another so easily (Survivor also). Season 7 was the best, 6 was so-so, season 9 sucked, etc. I can't remember one season from another. Even typing now, I have to think who even won last year. You must have a really good memory

Short term memory loss (for me) maybe lol.

My memory when it comes to TV shows is fairly good. At least relating to these types of shows where it's easy to distinguish season by season (for me at least). It helps when I've seen a number of these seasons again(at least the good ones).

Despite that, compared to many of other people around the internet, mine is probably average compared to their recollections of what happens on these shows. People can remember specific quotes, HOH winners and all that from past seasons. I know the general/main details.

I'm excited for BB20; watching the pre-season coverage helps build my anticipation for the show. The fact that there are no vets (unless Paul emerges from a crawlspace somewhere) bodes well for the season. But yeah they do cast the same type of houseguests from season to season, but those archetypes are probably needed so whatever. I'm picking Rachel to win, but as long as the show is good, I don't care who wins.
