    2018 Off-Season Thread

Because for some teams the off season has already started.

Magic have fired Frank Vogel after going 54-110 over two seasons.

Knicks have fired Jeff Hornaceck after going 60-104 over two seasons.

So who’s the favorite to take over in New York? Mark Jackson? David Fizdale?

    Any names rumored?

hawks one of the few teams with a lot of cap space are expected to use that to take on bad contracts from teams instead of using it in FA.

David Blatt said in a interview a few days ago that he wants to take another chance in the NBA and it seems like he is linked to that Knicks job.

Would like to see him back again and see him work under normal circumstances. Save to say that ain't the Knicks.

So the Bulls' off-season is off to a precious start.

Takeaways from John Paxson's end of season press conference?

Fred Hoiberg will "absolutely" be back next season. *farts*

"We need Zach Lavine to be a better basketball player."

Robin Lopez is apparently "an important part of our future." The ****? I like Robin don't get me wrong, one of my favorite Bulls, but at the end of this rebuild (if there is an end) Robin shouldn't STILL be on this team.

We'll be looking at a wing in the draft that has "size and length, a shooting and defensive component at the wing position."

and finally, the most absurd part of this conference...

He discussed Dunn as the future PG of this team and Cameron Payne as the backup. No mention of Jerian Grant.

Seriously? What are these two morons seeing, that the rest of the universe does not with Cam Payne? Dude is utter trash. Grant isn't much better, true, but there is no alternate plane of existence out there where I'd take Cam Payne over Jerian Grant on my team. I really hope Jerry fires these two at some point because they are completely incompetent. They should not have been allowed to be the ones to be in charge of this rebuild. Should have fired them both last year, let a new GM decide what to do with Jimmy and go from there.

Don't know if he's a fave, but supposedly they're gonna interview Jerry Stackhouse.

That is a bad idea. Stackhouse's gameplan featured selfish one on one adventures with low percentage shooting. He never bothered to play any defense. Most players turned coaches end up coaching how they played.

Agree on him as a player, but he has had some early success as a coach so I don't think it's fair to count him out until he's had a shot to prove himself.

2 good coaches on the market in Clifford and Vogel. Just not sure where they’ll end up though.

Won't have a clearer picture of that until closer to the end of the playoffs likely. What can we project as realistic potential openings for them to end up with? So far the only openings are their jobs and I'm not sure right now who is looking to make a coaching change among the other teams.

                          Per Woj and ProBasketballTalk

The Atlanta Hawks have granted coach Mike Budenholzer permission to speak with the Phoenix Suns about their head-coaching vacancy, league sources told ESPN….

So far, the Suns’ coaching search appears focused on securing a candidate with a successful head-coaching resume in the NBA. The Suns still are considering interim coach Jay Triano, who replaced Earl Watson three games into the regular season.

Budenholzer would be a good fit for Phoenix. Guy knows how to craft a solid offensive and defensive system. He would have pieces in Phoenix that he could develop just the way he would want too.
