Things 2K need to fix for NBA 2K19

I’ll start with some gameplay features that need improvements and then I’ll get into game modes.

    Latency:
I feel like this is a very big issue for online gamers. Basketball is a very fast paced game so when you have a lot of input lag/latency in it things like Defense become unreliable. You already have dribble “gods” on this game doing ridiculously fast dribble moves and speed bursts that it becomes impossible to defend sometimes with so much input lag.

    Defense:
Another VERY important feature that I believe they need to pay more attention to when it comes to making improvements. I know people will argue with me but Sharpshooters are highly OP this year again. I understand Sharpshooters should make a high percentage of there shots when wide open, that makes sense. But I’ve seen sharpshooters take smothered jumpshots and make them at a very high percentage. Its so bad that when your playing pro-am and one of your teammates is an AI thats guarding a sharpshooter on the other team they can literally just shoot in there face as if there not standing in front of them.

    Weight Has To Matter:
Weight was said to have mattered this year. In some aspects I see it work but then most of the time it doesn’t work so well. I’ve seen Centers literally get backed down by other Centers until they are completely out of bounds and then get dunked on. Doesn’t make sense that a center can push another big around as if he were a PG.

    Canned Animations:
You ever click triangle to contest a shooters shot and it does that animation where you touch the floor first and then contest?... Yeah... Have you stood still on defense while your opponent spams dribble moves until they get an ankle breaker animation?... yeah... Have you passed a ball to a open cutting player and when they catch the ball it falls out of there hand right after just to be a TO?... yeah... Have you ever tried diving for a loose ball only to look like a fool jumping on everything BUT the basketball?... Sadly... yes. 2K needs better physics and better animations instead of these canned 2 player animations. Losing control of your player the majority of the time in a sports game can be VERY frustrating.

    Ball Tangibility:
Countless times I see dribble “gods” (lol) dribble into a crowd of defenders only to still have the basketball in there hands. This needs to be fixed because it doesn't properly show that “Stick Skills Matter”. The game literally chooses different times for when the ball becomes intangible. I've heard that this is because they haven't came up with a way for AI to protect the ball well. Whatever needs to be done please do it 2K because this takes the immersion out of the game and also make's playing good defense not rewarding at all.

    Better Physics:
Now one thing I notice in NBA Live 18 is that body collisions are done quite well. When you collide with someone in the air it actually feels more realistic. Obviously its not the best but its something NBA 2K has been lacking. I believe if they want to truly have a better “feel” to the game then they need to do some HEAVY improvements to the physics and body collisions.

    Passing:
You ever pass to a guy 5 feet from you wide open only to throw it out of bounds?... Yeah... you every throw a pass to somebody only for it to be slowed down for somebody to steal it?... Passing is one of the most important things in basketball. It needs to be implemented better in 2K. Countless times defenders who are out of position can easily get back to there man in time if its passed to them because of slow passing speeds. I understand every player is not an elite passer but the passes are ridiculously slow sometimes and they need to be fixed. Also let players with higher passing ratings actually show a difference in passing. While speeding up passes overall would help the game in general, why not add a lil extra speed on elite passers passes too? It would make having an elite passer actually worth something because he can fire a pass to the open man way quicker and more efficiently then others. Fumbling passes on every pass shouldn’t be a thing unless the passer was defended well or double teamed also.

Overall better player control needs to be a thing in NBA 2K19. I’ve never played a game and said to myself SO many times “Why is my player doing this” or “Thats not what I’m trying to do”.

    Pro-AM:
Make playbooks available to Pro-Am teams with better on court play art. I’ve tried running the smart plays that are already set on Pro-AM with my team and they actually work well against other teams. But sometimes the play art can be confusing or hardly visible to some players. Also, it would be nice to setup certain plays for certain players that better fit there playstyle. What would make this even BETTER is if there was a "practice plays" section for you and your pro am team to practice plays against AI. If 2K makes this a thing it would encourge good basketball to be played and actually make people watching other people play the game more enjoyable “cough” “E-League” “cough.

Also, another big thing for me is the presentation for Pro-AM and the online neighborhood mode period. It’s too dull. Pro-AM is in a high school gym with a crowd that sounds very dull. All you hear is guys on the court and the basketball bouncing around. COMMENTARY, COMMENTARY, COMMENTARY is highly needed in this game mode. We don’t need real life broadcasters to do the voice overs if thats too much, it can literally be any group of people that sound good commentating a pro am game. Let the commentary talk about a certain players last game where he went off for 30 points or having 15 assists and leading his team to victory just like they do in MyCareer. They can even talk about a bad loss they took the game before and how they want to try to bounce back this game. They already say our name in the PA system why not say it in some commentary. Also, action replays of nice plays and zoom ins on players celebrating after scoring from time to time and a short halftime show of quick replays of some good plays from the first half.
Let timeouts matter this year in Pro-AM also. Give us 1 minute to change matchups instead of us doing it in game. Let us choose an inbound play from a timeout that sets our players in the right spots for a play.

I’ll make another thread diving way deeper into Pro-AM and other onlines mode probably later today since this thread is already very long. Leave your comments below and let me know what you think and what you believe they should improve for NBA 2K19

I would love it if they modified the 2k11 engine and utilized it for 19. With the nicer graphics of course...

So basically gameplay as a whole needs to be fixed and I totally agree. I just don't see them making any big improvements. This gens 2k hasn't been as good as last gens, gameplay is getting worse, a lot of game modes and features added but they aren't up to par, and even graphically the game is either up or down year to year. Maybe its time for a new engine for 2k.

I know people didnt like 2k17, but it was a engine in the making over what? 4 games? so it had its time to be ironed out, this new nba 2k18 is there first with an entire new engine in years, but if you look at nba 2k14 to nba 2k17, its using basically a very similar engine, if they actually want to make 2k19 good they can, by polishing this engine they've now started to work on.

They need to fix All Star Team Up. Add more classic players and a jersey selection screen.

VC point unlockables if they absolutely have to make money off of it.

I would advocate for better defense , the footplanting and reaction time definitely need inprovement , the suctions meed to go the AI defense needs to be better and the help needs to be smarter .

also i would love to see a better rebounding mechanic implementation because the animations now for rebounds are hilarious ( for example teh stumbling defensive rebound falling backwards with one arm stretched out backwards one handed catch rebound in traffic ) that is just TOO unrealistic.

Passing absolutely needs more Crispiness and speed to it , no floating and warping into defenders for a perfect interception .

These are just a few game play improvements i want to see . .there is more tho 😊

Passing out of double teams without bringing it up through the opponents body and forcing a turnover.
                Player collision/stickiness - it's still ridiculously OTT
Being able to actually jump for a jump ball
I want Myplayer to actually be Myplayer again, rather than one of a set number of players 2k allows us to use.
The OTT grind needs to disappear from whence it came.
Being sucked behind CPU for no reason when you're already in front of him in position.
remove walking sizeups unless the user gets the choice of when to activate them.
Remove the ball hand switching animation that is out of the users control.

i think they need to add something like player ID, something that's unique to a certain player like how they move, similar to FIFA, they got some player running animation(Ronaldo, Messi, Robben, etc). just for some very distinguishable player like LaVine, Lebron and DeRozan(see how they run and walk with their feet wide open), Jordan with a little hunch, etc.

                  sorry for my english

I really like this idea but I would like to see some gameplay improvements first before I would consider trying this.

Always wanted this but that's why I ask for Private Matchmaking on ProAm because if they don't add leagues we could just make our own.

Stop allowing the defender to block you on the way down with their legs or body! You time the shot correctly on drives but somehow you are still blocked, where does his happen in the NBA?

Reward timing and skill and stop encouraging people to mash buttons and jump up and down like crazy. Make them miss the shot even, if the timing is close for both players, but a block is ridiculous.

CREATE DEFENSIVE ANIMATIONS LIBRARY FOR EVERY PLAYER

While everyone hates canned animations, the truth is they will always reside in our sports games. And that's good until they find a way for the blending animations to look as good.Don't forget this game is a simulation and needs balance between realism and realistic looks.
Take defence for example.Wouldn't it be better if a player's rating was not the only thing determining how good or bad a player is?
Why are there so many offensive animations for different types of offensive moves and none for the defensive moves.
The philosophy is there and it's right.
Differentiate good from bad with ratings and looks. Both on offense and defense.

                              LET US CREATE RETRO UNIFORMS

Creating an 80s uniform for my team was a dream of mine so many years.Seeing how far Myleague has gone and all the content people is uploading for jerseys, it's a shame there are so short shorts and tight jerseys option.
