Me. Simply can't see any reason having to fork out full price for a game where they ruined my favorite mode...or more accurately ruined the way I like to play my favorite mode.

Requested a refund and pre-order cancellation on my psn account. Really hoping that can be actioned as I would definitely prefer to continue with 17. Really doubt the franchise news will change my opinion.

All depends on Franchise. Gameplay looks to have some slight improvements, although nothing to blow me away. If Franchise is essentially the same thing but you can sim to different 'phases' ill just play 17 for another year.

psn credit is fine as well. Just don't want MLB 18 anymore as not worth the money for me personally

Honest question, what are you guys mad about? The changes to RTTS?

While I’m more a franchise and DD guy, and yesterday’s announcement made me sceptical, I still have the feeling I can’t have a definitive opinion before I try it. It sure will be different, but change is not necessarily bad.

I think for me, it's more so my carryover players and not necessarily new players. Carryover players will slowly be nerfed to fit into a specific archetype. I would rather have the option of not doing that to my carryover players and just create a new one in '18 if I want to experience the archetypes. This reminds me of what happened to RttS in '13 when we were forced to play without any commentary and there was zero options to turn it on. I would rather have the option to play RttS how I want to and not be forced to play it a certain way. That seems counterintuitive to me.

Re: Who will play 17 with updated rosters?

RTTS's changes are fabulous... the 2 problems are that they exclude a certain type of player from being made, one that while not particularly realistic is still a fun option that many people would like to keep, and that these changes hurt those who have kept a carryover RTTS players for years only to now find that player about to be nerfed down, cancelling out all the work that many people have put into their players.

While The Show does so many great things realistically, the removal of the maxed out 99 overall rated player for RTTS is an odd choice when you consider how many unrealistic things are in The Show that are meant to be more about fun than about realism: Retro mode, DD, fantasy teams, card collecting, 3 inning games, player lock, quick counts, fast play, quick sim, playing as legends in itself, etc.

It's still a video game and there needs to be a balance between realism and fun and the RTTS changes are gonna leave some people out in the cold in this aspect.

I think most people are angry about online franchise gone.

For me we get the franchise news Next week if they said “30 team control is gone” like ea did with madden then it would take that to happen for me to not buy.

After the RTTS yesterday, I am 100% with out a doubt getting 18. There hasn't been 1 thing I have seen that would make me not get it. Cant wait to see the franchise stream.

MLB 18 another great step in the right direction

Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

Exactly! And if complete realism was the focus why add a bunch of unrealistic circus bat flips...

Just doesn't add up at all.

Nothing about grinding in the minors for seasons upon season only to make it to the show and be a very good player appeals to me...compared to being in the minors for between 1 - 3 seasons, making it to the show...eventually becoming the GOAT, breaking records etc.

Seems I'm stuck with my preorder unfortunately....will play franchise this year.

Nope. 18 looks like the better game across the board.

I can't even play 17 now! After seeing all the positive changes to presentation, commentary, and gameplay, along with batting stance creator and the changes to RTTS, I'm beyond hyped for 18 and just can't play 17 anymore (I've been trying!).

I always felt RTTS was too easy. You just earn/buy points, pump it into a category and your player is magically better at that skill. I didn't like that system very much and I am really looking forward to having to actually perform and train to get better.

However, since this new RTTS path has us starting as low-level prospects, maybe they should have kept a option in the game for players to use the old style. Call it "blue chip mode" or something for those who want to create unrealistic mega-stars with 99 ratings across the board and also allow players to import their mega-rated players from prior years without having them lose their superpowers over time.

It's never a good idea to remove features and modes from games. You are always going to upset some fans doing that. The Show has always added and added while leaving old options in for players who prefer "the old way."

Every year I say the same thing. I won't buy the game this year. I will skip it and continue playing the game I have and every year SDS comes out with a "must have" feature change and I crater and buy the game.

I was planning on playing MLB 17, in fact I am presently 35 games into my recently restarted 162 game season on MLB 17 using the rosters released at the end of the real world 2017 season. But I dislike the frequency of passed balls and base runners taking extra bases all the time in 17 which made me pre-order 18 with blind faith that they won't be removing my favorite mode of playing the game unlike what they did to the online franchise people. However as mentioned this is blind faith. For now I am assuming I will be importing my 17 season into 18 and picking up where I left off with everything else working as it should and a reduced number of extra bases being taken thanks to the improvements in fielding, base running and tagging.

                            Only time will tell.

I am with you completely. I have no issue with any new player I create being limited by the Archetypes. There is no incentive though to bring my carry over players that I have been playing for years over simply to see some of their skills deteriorate 25% to 50% simply to fit an archetype.
