If you pick a certain build, are you not able to get any hall of fame badges?

Some of them say there are no purple badges, does that mean that you can never get a hall of fame badge for that build. Like if I was to choose 3 pointer/shot creator there are no purple badges it says.

For all intents and purposes this is correct. Some builds don't get any Hall of Fame badges, but in exchange they generally get more badges as a whole. Think jack of all trades vs master of one.

There is that carrot that 2k dangles at the end of the road to 99 called a legend badge, which boosts all of your non-HoF badges up one level, but the road is far too long to be thinking about reaching that destination.
