The game is absolutely awful. This series is so incredibly stale.

Baylor Bears - Texans - Astros - Rockets - Avalanche

NHL needs a heck of a lot more than this list. 1. Frostbite 2. Actual spatial and positioning logic for AI players (don't drift to the boards if you are on a 2-1 break AI winger)  3. Improve the awful puck movements where it whips around the boars over and over again to opponent AI. 4. Improve the draft experience with both animations and expanded player list. 5. Improve the horrible audio presentation than doesn't even mention Auston Matthews.

This is my favorite sports game to play online, and I'm not even considering purchasing it after spending time with the 10 hour trial.

As long as EA continues to prioritize things like the HUT cash-cow, nonsensical "Arcade" modes (seriously, just make another game for that audience) and cumbersome Mortal Kombat style deke systems, I'll prioritize keeping my money in my pocket.

I've been coming to this site for about fifteen years, and this is up there with peculiar articles. A "Showtime" feature? Seriously? NHL 2002 did have that, and it was an awful look, and much maligned from devs and players alike.
Also, what you describe about passing is what manual passing is like with the assist slider turned to 0.

                - Frosbite engine.

                - Better presentation. Add SportsNet and Hockey Night in Canada broadcast presentations.

                - more goalie animations.

                - more stat overlays during game. standings, top scorers, power play and penalty kill stats etc..

This article should begin and end with roster sharing.

Hello, bring back GM Connected or at least implement Connected Franchise ala Madden. Till then we will keep playing Legacy on the PS3.

                      -Amen to classic teams
                      -Concur re:  Frostbite
-Ditto to Peter: stat overlays SORELY needed
-Better puck physics, where it moves realistically (versus on a string) off sticks, skates, players, boards (see PES)
                      -Per above, live boards
-Adaptive AI. Enough with the exploits
-Improved matchmaking in EASHL. Current Division system simply does NOT match up well.
-Better CR scoring, coaches grades based on position. Match the two
-Pokechecks don't always dislodge rather slow down puck carriers
                      -Bring back subtle hooking/grab
-Easier mute options (on the fly)
-Simplified hip check, goalie pull controls
-After whistle hits are guaranteed penalties
                      -Reduce wraparound potency

I'm unfortunately needing to echo the above: this game is terrible...independent of the above. In the same game, I saw a goal disappear, a face off in the wrong zone, penalties taken away, a fighting overlay stuck on the screen. 3 exploit goals. Endless poke check abuse. How is one expected to enjoy a game that won't let you actually play it?

I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement.  I started with NHL 13 so I only got to listen to them for 2 years.  They should bring them back and have 2 announce teams.

Fix the AI before adding anything. Especially defensive AI. Defensemen can’t seem to block shots that are a foot or two from them, goalies are absolutely awful. Was playing online and I shot a backwards backhand to the net from behind the blue line and the goalie stopped it and  instead of possessing it  let it slide into the goal. There was nobody around him either. Literally the next play, my goalie did almost the same thing. Instead of covering a puck in front of him he just sits there.  Also fix AI controlled players shooting the puck with a defender standing a foot from them. Makes no sense.

A lot of good things have already been mentioned, so I go with CUSTOM MUSIC. Just bring it back already, it adds so much to the in-arena realism.

Edit: Oh, it has been mentioned in the article, only read the thread.
