Re: NBA 2K18 Thunder vs. the Lakers.
It just doesnt seem right seeing Payton and Kemp in OKC uniforms, instead of Sonics.
For the most part I like what Im seeing in gameplay footage, just wish more English speaking Americans were posting vids, along with actually having sime knowledge of the game.
I didnt think I would be this excited for this game with as early as its being released with MLB baseball season still going on and MILB baseball postseason happening now.
Usually I dont start to antsy for basketball till early Oct, whether it be NBA2k basketball or real life basketball, but Im ready for both NBA2k18 and the real NBA to get underway. Especially when considering we had to trade PG13 away. But I actually think the Pacers might surprise some people this season and not be as bad as alot of people think. Not that I think we will be a contender, especially not with Nate McMillian as HC, man I wish they would have fired him. Im sure he is a nice guy, but some people just dont fit as HC's in certain places, and Nate's just not the right fit here in Indiana as HC. Maybe he will surprise me, but I just didnt like how he handled the team last season at all.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: NBA 2K18 Thunder vs. the Lakers.
Note: This is User vs User gameplay and the user did switch to off ball teammates and that could be part of the problem. But this just stood out regardless of those factors.
I'm mainly concerned with the initial defensive setup. What happens after could be explained due to Laker user causing Jerry West to be completely out of position.
=========================================
Kobe Bryant (Prime) defensive awareness should be pretty high.
Ray Allen (Prime) is an elite 3 point specialist.
=========================================
1. Laker's user does NOT control Kobe Bryant at the beginning. Just curious as to why Kobe would leave Ray Allen so completely open. Is this suppose to be similar to the Ben Simmons/Otto Porter sequence (i.e. daring Ben Simmons to shoot a three)?
2. Kobe Bryant clamps the paint to double and leaves a wide open uncovered Ray Allen. Note: Laker's user did take control of Jerry West and completely overextends himself trying to guard Kevin Durant. User moves Jerry West completely out of bounds, allows Durant to drive the paint. Computer Kobe Bryant anticipates Durant.
3. Bottom Line: I'm simply a little concerned about Bryant's initial position directly underneath the rim and leaving Ray Allen open at the corner. I can sort of overlook Kobe doubling Durant because Thunder user completely messed up Jerry West's defensive coverage and overshot Jerry West out of bounds. Thunder user took advantage and drove Durant towards the paint. Computer Kobe Bryant anticipated Durant.

Completely done by the AI. Below are 2 pics with the concerned defender circled in red. To me, no reason why he would just leave the player on the baseline - he serves no purpose running into the middle. Reminds me of 2K17 issues personally.
It's a non issue (IMO) if I see this early and set the defensive setting to "play tight" or whatever it takes to keep this player at home. But still..... seems fundamentally off....Comment

I really wish they would save the in arena pre game, halftime and post game shows for the Allstar game, Conference Finals and Finals. All other times it should be done from the studio.

Re: NBA 2K18 Thunder vs. the Lakers.
This seems to be an issue with defenders leaving players open in corner. This was an issue last year as well, and I really hope OG can fix this before launch. Overall, the defensive rotations look great. But the sagging off shooters in the corner could become a major programming flaw.
1. If the offensive player in the corner is not a shooter, im fine with them pinching to help, but they should never be sprinting to the middle of the lane to stand there. (Obviously, they should not be sagging off a shooter)
2. This is probably worth its own thread. Including all of these GIfs and picturesLast edited by ch46647; 09-07-2017, 07:58 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Thunder vs. the Lakers.
I haven't quite been following ALL the gifs/videos, some I definitely agree with ...but the Kobe Bryant scenario in paritcular didnt bother me, and IMO showed a big step up in awareness from 2K17.
First, to put it simply....Kobe's idea if shrinking the floor at 1:00 is definitely exaggerated...I'd much rather see him positioned right outside of the paint...but the principle is the same...Durants best chance of getting the ball to Allen in that scenario is a LBJ-esque cross court pass that he can easily recover to. I really have no issues with that scenario at all.
Now at that point, after the user defense causes all hell to break loose, I'd like to see his help be a lot less dramatic...his dart to the lane would have been too much to recover from had a pass been made earlier...but what I do like is that he darted back to Allen when he saw KAJ meet him...and probably would have recovered to the shooter in time had the user not taken control.....I feel he'd be stuck in limbo in this sequence on 2K17.Last edited by The 24th Letter; 09-07-2017, 08:28 AM.Comment
