Seen this in 3 out of the 4 past games that have been close in late innings and they tried doing 4 suicide squeezes with the bases loaded or with a guy on 3rd even with good hitters at the plate..sometimes with no outs....anyone else seeing this? It's such a rare thing irl it is kinda bizarre to see it happening so much.

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
It isn't as bad as in the past, I have seen CPU resort to suicide squeezes in one-run or tied games in late innings... probably because bunting success has been turned down, they don't happen as often as it used to.
It's one other area where smarter CPU manager is desired. This kinda think should be something that characterizes different managers... some manager value small balls, others don't. -
Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
The devs have a (bad) habit of over doing some aspects of the game. Last year it was bunt singles. It was so bad at one point that I stopped playing for a month. At least 2-3 times a game, slower players on the other team were bunting for a hit.
Also, between MLB 16-17. I've never seen so many dropped 3 strikes on my life.Comment

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
ya the frustrating thing about it, is the delayed animations still. even if you play it correctly defensively there is still the delayed reaction to get the ball to home plate to stop the squeeze.Toronto Blue Jays

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
I had Stanton up against me with bases loaded no one out in 9th tie game and did suicide squeeze. I was like nah...never going to happen.Comment

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
I only saw it for the first time EVER last night in '17. It made sense though, it was an off speed count and a bad hitter at the plate. Bunt went foul and they didn't try again.
I only had 16 for a few months but never saw it.

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
This has been an ongoing problem for YEARS. I remember complaining about it in MLB 12. Not sure who needs to see it, but hopefully the right person will at some point.Comment

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
I know for a fact they are aware of it. It has been brought up at community events for numerous years and discussed ad nauseum. I am guessing they don't know how to correct it because letting it continue would be an odd design choice.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
In reality, they'd be better off removing the logic from the game and just never having it happen. How many suicide squeezes were there last year.Comment

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
Its hard to pinpoint just the suicide squeeze but in 2016 with less than 2 outs and a runner on third, there were a 159 sacrifice bunt attempts. 6 of them resulted in a lead change and only 1 was game ending and that was done by John Lester. Of the 159, 34 were attempted in innings 7 or later.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: CPU suicide squeezes in late innings
The CPU got me. First two strikes they bunted foul, third try, 0-2 count, lays down a perfect bunt for the win.
