Cool under the radar contenders for a fun franchise mode?

Guys, still on the fence if I shall buy the game this year, although I know it's great amd stuff, time is an issue...
I came to realize that for me not only how good and fun the game itself is important but also if there are some( for my standards) cool teams to use in franchise mode.

I'm always looking for some fringe contenders, teams that may or not make the playoffs, which franchises fit that description this time around

Braves - New stadium, nice mix of young talent and veterans, good farm system.

Oriole's - One of the best parks imo, good uniforms, good offensive talent, starting pitching isn't very good.

Phillies are in the middle of a re-build. They have a lot of good talent in the minors.

Cardinals, good contact hitting team pretty solid pitching with a young ace for development and a top pitching prospect in Alex Reyes. It's a young team with some veteran leadership. They just missed the playoffs last year and are a fringe team this year.
          MLB: Cardinals
          NCAA: Sooners
          NFL: Titans
          NBA: Thunder

Braves: New Suntrust stadium, great talent in the farm system, no expectations early lol

I say this as a diehard Cubs fan, but the Brewers are in the middle of a huge rebuild. They have a bunch of young guys in the system, and still have a player like Ryan Braun who could be swapped for even more young prospects.

Plus, you can always use the sweet uniforms with the "MB" ball and glove logo.

Keep in mind - Unless you are going to wait for OSFM, a team's farm system talent in real life doesn't really matter - unless their top prospects were called up at some point in 2016 for a cup of coffee at least.

Cardinals and Pirates are both going to be contending for an NL wildcard probably. Neither will probably catch the Cubs (barring an epic collapse).

I'll go with the Braves, Mariners, Phillies or White Sox this year. Not sure yet. Atlanta is the frontrunner though.

I think the dbacks would make a really fun team to play as. Some stars in the lineup and a ton of upside in the rotation. There's a core in place but a lot of room to build up your vision around them.

I might try the Rockies. They have the bats, but as for the arms... well, did I mention the bats?

How long does it usually take for OSFM to come out?

Agreed. Pirates will be a fun team to play with but will also be a challenge because of the Cards and Cubs. If you want to do a rebuild, teams like the Braves or Twins might be the way to go
