    PS4 vs PS4 pro

Any help would be appreciated. Does this game play good with high frame rate on PS4 and 1080p? I don't have a 4K tv so I'm not sure if I should upgrade. Is it worth upgrading to the pro even if I don't have a 4K tv?

I've already made the commitment too getting a pro at the end of April , even without a 4K tv .

It is. Plays great on high framerate on a 1080p TV.

It may be improved but Pro will obviously be better in that regard.

Pretty sure it's 30 FPS on regular PS4 and 60 FPS for "high frame rate mode" on PS4 Pro. So, pretty much double. If you watch Millenium's stream yesterday, high frame rate mode on PS4 Pro looked tremendous.

There has been quite a bit of PS4 Pro talk in the "4k and HDR" thread in this forum, and also in the Playstation 4 discussion thread in the console forum, I suggest checking them out.

SCEA_Chris hinted that PS4 Pro 1080p displays will experience downsampling in some form, but we are still trying to confirm exactly how Pro 1080p displays work with The Show this year.

JareBear, I've been following along in the conversation but I guess I'm having some trouble understanding specifics. Maybe it will become more clear by Tuesday. My question is I have a 4K TV (no HDR) but still the regular PS4. What is going to be the best option for someone in this case to play the game?

                  Absolutely a PS4 Pro.

I am picking up my Pro this afternoon (oh yes I caved). I want that 60 FPS on my standard 2009 Sony XBR 1080P

At some point I will pick up a new Sony XBR Ultra 4K 43' for the man cave.

But this will at least let me feast on the far better framerate for this game as well as Horizon Zero Dawn, NBA2K17, Hitman and Skyrim Remastered.

                  Well worth it IMO

So what happens when you crank up the visual enhancement and framerate slider?

I have an older TV and the only benefit I will get is the enhanced framerate and overall smoothness until I get a 4K tv.

Even that looks great and better than the standard PS4

All those games you mentioned have downsampling as well. You will get a cleaner image in each as well as a FPS boost in Hitman. Hitman is considered one of the most improved games for Pro on 1080p displays

SCEA_Chris said that The Show downsamples to 1080p as well but we don't know if it applies to the regular rendering mode and high framerate; or just one of the two.

Man, all you guys caving and buying pros and new TVs....y'all giving me the itch now to go out an upgrade! Lol

If I do upgrade to a pro, I would be like you, A&S...I'm keeping my Samsung 1080p that I bought in 2011. It's a great tv. So I'm interested to get your feedback on the difference from the standard PS4 to the pro.

Appreciate the reply. Must have missed your post when I was typing mine out. I don't really understand all the technical jargon but if a pro makes a big difference in how this game looks, I definitely might look into getting a pro.

I saw where Willis has said it looks great on his OG PS4, so I might wait till after spending time with it on mine on whether I want to make the leap or not.

But reading all the posts around here isn't making it easy lol.
