    Digital copy vs Hard Copy

Sorry to open a new topic for this but "Preloaded Digital version" one just got closed.

I'm planning in short mid-term to buy the PS4 Pro. I prefer to buy and preload the digital copy but in case I'm buying a new console, will it be easier to re-install the game from a hard copy or will I be able to re-download it from the PS Store ?

Download size & time is not really an issue but not sure if we can re-download an already install game bought online.

Thx in advance for your help

If you're going from regular PS4 to Pro, you'll be able to transfer your entire HDD content over to the Pro when the time comes (game installs and all) with an ethernet cable. That will save you having to re-install/re-download all of your games.

To answer your question specifically, it's always going to be faster to re-install a physical copy, but how much fast depends on your internet speed when going digital. But I'd still take the transfrerring process every time in this case.

As long as you have the predownload box checked it will , it should be automatically checked tho , when I bought my pre order the other day it was already checked like so

Go to your library on your PlayStation 4, then scroll down to purchased, change filter to date purchased and 17 should pop up , click it and it'll show timer

I always prefer digital since the load times are faster and everything just feels smoother, plus you never have to worry about swapping blurays.

The auto download checkbox is B.S. according to my experience last year! That only gives you a partial download and you need to manually go in and download the rest. Don't be unaware and be like me and wait until midnight on release date to figure that out like I did.

I have never had a problem. Almost every game this generation I have bought digitally and those that have had it available have always pre loaded right on time with no issues.

To elaborate on the pre-loads question(s), pre-loads typically happens the Sunday morning before a game is released on Tues. Meaning, if you have the option of downloading any software or update checked in your system settings, it will automatically start without any intervention from you provided your PS4 is in rest mode. I can't recall an issue where a pre-load didn't start by itself Sunday morning. I will always be a digital download person. Just way to convenient for me.
