Devs please let us be the MyPlayers WE want to be

I've said a lot on this and I don't want to keep repeating myself and sound like a broken record but it needs to be said and i'll say it for the final time:

2K, let us be the players WE want to be and not the ones YOU want to be. For the past two years you've forced us into forced storylines and player archetypes that have been wildly unpopular with the fans, be it with the Spike Lee story or the incredibly harsh stat caps and bucket system you've forced us into for the past three or so games.

Now listen 2K, I applaud the efforts to include a story in MyCareer, but you forced us into a heavily scripted story that no one really liked, this year is better, I actually like the whole Orange Juice thing minus the name, but please no more forcing us into a story, again you've made positive strides this year, let us have more choice over what we want to do.

And second and most important, PLEASE, NO MORE STAT CAPS OR BUCKETS. You had this in place for a couple of games now and it ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. 2K, this I know you're trying to make as realistic a game as possible, but come on, remember THIS IS A VIDEO GAME. I'm dropping 60 bucks on this thing, and if I want to be the next MJ and beyond then let me be that! The way it is now, I can't even be a good two way player like Jimmy Butler, or be good at two things like Steph Curry! I can only be a sharpshooter, or a playmaker or point forward or a glass cleaner etc....WTF, I want to be a franchise player, others want to be a roleplayer, let us have the choice! You have a huge problem with free throws when that should just have individual stats to update and not these asinine buckets that MAKE NO SENSE!!!!

Right now we're just being the players YOU want us to be, and that's not cool. If you're worried about fans being too good or people buying players, then you shouldn't be. We bought the game, we should enjoy it how we want to, if that means making a role player or a franchise player. Even one of your biggest fans Chris Smoove has said this in his videos. Now, if you're doing this because of the Park and Pro Am, then separate the modes and cap them there, because it's no fun when a few people ruin it for everyone and we all have to suffer.

Please 2K, please, Mike, Ronnie, LD whoever, please take these to heart, please, I and many others can't take another year of this, we're your loyal customers, listen to our complaints please.

Re: Devs please let us be the MyPlayers WE want to be

Why can't you be all of those things you claim to be?

My athletic finisher PF just got the corner specialist 3pt badge with just 1 bar in my 3pt attribute category.

I got the pick pocket badge with level 12 defense.

I get boards with just a 70 rating in rebounds.

Ironically, the thing I have the most difficult time with, is the thing I built my entire character for. I can't trigger a contact dunk animation to save my life.

I will agree with you though that capping players to a 95 OVR and only allowing players with much more free time than yourself who can play Park all day the ability to go above 95 is a crock of literal ****.

Re: Devs please let us be the MyPlayers WE want to be

Now Im not a online player, but my guess is the reason fro this cap on players was because of the whole Pro- Am tourney last yr. Its about putting a team together and not a team full of 99 rated players, so I do see why 2k did this, they want the Pro-Am tournament to really take off and become a big thing. Probably hoping this becomes a huge success, something like those geek kids that play those shooting games that they have tournments for on TV sports networks, which really annoy me, because its not a darn sport, so dont waste airing geeks play these games on my sports channels, but enough with that I could go on and on about that BS that ESPN shows that arent actual sports, like Poker, lol.

I can definitely understand why some would be upset, as Im sure most play MYplayer to be the next Super Star, and not a Role player. I think what you said about splitting the mode so to speak, to where say you have a Pro-Am player and then just a MyPlayer being seperate would be a way to make everyone happy.
Again I totally get why NBA2k devs did what they did, and IMO thats was a great idea they had to CAP players, so its not a bunch of 99's running around, as they want to make it as realistic as possible. I know if I was young kid it would be a heck of a lot of fun playing in the ProAm an building a team, instead of having everyone be good at everything.

Caps are only there to keep online balanced, they need to separate online/offline.

It's bizarre if you think about, on what other game do they force players to play hours of the single player in order to upgrade your online avatar.

Buckets definitely gotta go either way, no idea why anyone at 2k would think it's a good idea.

Every day on here, separate offline from online, let us be great at everything

make a created player, go to MyLeague and use player lock.

the caps and archetypes are the best since they've started this new format.

Pretty much zero RPG element if you do that tho.

I get why the did it, but they're putting their interests in front of the fans, which is ok to a certain extent, after all they are a business, but not to where you handicap an aspect of the game to compliment another aspect.

They can take a page out of Madden's book, you can choose where you're drafted and it affects the type of VC you earn. For instance you want to be in the top 3, you get higher stats starting out but less VC to get upgrades. You go in the second round and you get lesser stats but more VC to earn upgrades. You go undrafted, you get to choose the team who wants you the most and earn the most VC. Its not a hard concept.

I agree. It's promoting actual basketball. And I say this watching playmakers zip by and brick 3s trying to play 2k16 hero ball. I see Sharpshooter take a center head on and get stopped. I'm a liability outside, but hit me on the cut or let me get a head of steam and I'm a monster. Teams that play to the strengths of the positions and understand that Glass cleaners need to box out to get boards, Sharpshooter suck off the dribble. Shot Creator is literally james harden. Right now it's a lot of "Play like 2k16", and kids are being exposed

Do I like being able to do everything? I mean, it opens up the floor a bit, but it also promotes the BS. And with that

The more I play MyCareer, the more I think it was really made for the My Park and Pro Am players. Those that want to just play offline are kinda shoved over to MyGM and MyLeague. There's this serious grind when playing MyCareer and it's so the online players don't become god-like overnight. lol

                  Just my opinion is all.

Look bro, I don't know if you realize this, but this a video game. I don't play Halo and say "a real soldier couldn't carry that much ammunition!" Or "it's not realistic that Master Chief can jump that high!" I play that game to escape from the real world and do what I cant do in real life. If I want to be good at everything then so effing what? That's my enjoyment, if you want a more realistic player then that's none of my business either.

I'm not saying you in particular but, I don't get why people don't understand that not everyone agrees with your viewpoint and wants different things out of the game.

there is a very simple way around this, make MyCareer and MyPark/Pro-am completely separate. i know a lot of people that want to play my career but not the online modes and vice versa 2k should have caps for the online and no caps offline and every one would be happy.

Really making them separate would only make 2K's brand stronger. People would buy VC so they could do both. I think offline players like myself want to be the next franchise changing player.. not by only cheesing the computer but by being a real blue chip prospect.

You should be making a battlefield comparison, sir. Battlefield has bullet drop, wind, etc. It's a "Realistic" based shooter.

2k is a SIMULATION Basketball game. That's what they market it as, so the video game line people keep dropping is kind of flawed. If they advertised "Basketball" it'd be an okay place to start your arguments, but the fact that they market it as an attempt at a "Realistic Sim Basketball experience", kills that video game talk.

You wanting to be good at everything is fine, but it kills balance issues, dilutes gameplay, and stagnates creativity on here. Look at last year: 6'7 outside point. Everyone ran that by the end of it. There was no reason not to for people that only care about wins. No variety, no depth. This year so far I see a ton of playmakers that will be useless ones defenses are developed to deal with the speed. There is no "God" build. Playmaker is close, but it's inconsistent. Especially when ran like 2k16, they get so many dribble penalties they chuck up airballs.

I get that this isn't your cup of tea, but that's why they suggested player lock on a CAP in myleague. You don't even have to grind for stuff. Or...did you want a "God" player for online? Because that's why the Caps for stats and archetypes exist, to balance that out.
