MyCareer Big Men PF/C
I thought i'd start a thread for the Big Guy Brotherhood to assemble as Ronnie2k would say. Here we can discuss likes/dislikes, share tips to help each other. What builds are you guys using? what are your results so far? How do you feel about the archetype limitations? -

im a 6'9 300lb glass cleaner. i love it!!
i start off every year with a big but i particularly love my character this year!
i wanted to make this build last year - but we all know i would have emabarrassed going against the 7'3" monsters.
i love it because its like a im a baby shaq out there (aka big baby davis celtic years, also they used to call him baby shaq, and i was called baby shaq as a youngster - so theres the connection. plus shaq is my all time favorite player).
i can bully just about everyone out there but im still quick enough to move around and run up and down the court. i also love that i have a very solid mid range game, and i can hit the occasional 3.
my only weakness is verticality - i have none lol. i have to win with positioning which i love!! -
Re: MyCareer Big Men PF/C
Meh to be honest I hate it,
Last year I made a 6'8 pf trying to make a Charles Barkley type defender rebounder but due to the 2ks team inability to balance anything correctly I just got ****ted on by 7'3 350 pound centers all day.
Fast forward to today and in my foolish optimism I make another pf this time a bit taller and weighing more figuring hey maybe I can have some fun this year. But nope instead of being ****ted on in the post now I get just get ****ted on in the perimeter by 7'3 centers who can shoot and still back me down with equal strength. Oh did I forget they can rebound to?!? Because it has nothing to do with your rebound stat just your height.
So to anyone making a big make sure you make him a stretch big 7"3 350 pound or don't play because you can't do anything else because 2k's team is incompetent at making anything even remotely balanced **** this gameComment

Re: MyCareer Big Men PF/C
6'6 PF imitating Sir Charles. Made myself a rebounder. Having some fun in offline games, and enjoy being a lot quicker than most big men. Just hoping my mid range jumper and inside game will be good enough eventually to be a good scorer.
Don't think I'll even bother with online from the sounds of things. Sounds like another year of everyone finding the easiest build and dominating with that build.
The archetypes are pretty **** really. They don't even make any sense.Comment

Re: MyCareer Big Men PF/C
So far I'm playing an 6'11 Athletic Center and I'm loving it. Haven't played any Park and Pro AM yet but I've never really play those much cuz I'm usually playing solo.
My dislikes/things that could be improved are: at 6'11 my speed/strength/vertical caps out at a 66/69/71 respectively which is not the worst but the position averages for those categories are 59/76/61 respectively. The problem is that other decent athletic-type Centers/PF like
Karl Anthony-Towns 6'11 (spd:80/str:80/vert:70),
Deandre Jordan 6'11 (spd:71/str:94/vert:77),
Blake Griffin 6'10 (spd:74/str: 94/vert:90),
Dwight Howard 6'11 (spd:76/str:92/vert:80)
are ALL much more athletic while being allowed to do other things as well stats wise. As a specified Athletic archetype i feel like the athletic attributes should be more impressive/less restrictive at least comparable to other (elite) NBA players.
My other gripe is some of the available upgradeable badges for this Archetype. Posterizer & Lob City Finisher & Pick & Roller are spot on. Tear Dropper seems ok, doesn't really fit my play style but probably will be useful too, but One Man Fast break seems like a joke, since our speed caps out in the 60's. If you choose to run the fast break its most likely not as the ball handler. So that badge seems like it will be difficult to get & only marginally useful. I think One Man fast break should be subbed for something like Relentless Finisher ideally, or even Brick Wall. Otherwise everything else is great or pretty manageable.
The Strength attribute is a somewhat sore point for me because every other archetype besides stretch bigs(68) cap at almost 90. So that should be increased since strength plays a factor in how you move through the paint this year & is also rumored to affect layups.
Just my 2 cents & experience so far. Overall I'm enjoying 2k17 a lot looking forward to maxing my guy and becoming the greatest (role) player of all time lolComment

Re: MyCareer Big Men PF/C
I played around with a CAP with the same attribute caps as my player but fully badged up & i noticed that getting hot adds a significant temporary boost to some of your attributes. like 10-12 points ...this might offset some of the weaknesses of the build so I'm excited to finish maxing my guy and seeing the results...if you add the +5 boosts to that we may be able to become actual star players for brief spurts

Re: MyCareer Big Men PF/C
I'm doing a 7-1 240 Center Paint Protector.
Drafted 9th to Toronto
I wanted to be a shot blocking beast with bunch rebounds but not happening.
I'm kinda bit disappointed as I'm noticing the same bug with player speed getting back on defense as many times my opponent is wide open and only way to catch up is burn energy with speed boost then my guy doesn't have boost /strength to defend for rest of the possession it's that or leaving opponents open for easy bucket 3-4 times a game so far.
Not liking the build as my speed /accl max out at only 58/54 which is making me thinking of restarting new position . Just don't get how other players same builds in game but have attributes over the caps we are stuck with ??? Def loved last years version better as bc n building player was not so limited and seemed a bit easier getting enough vc ..
Seems this year with restrictions more offensive centres/fowards are the way to go with more speed and can score as layups change def making it harder to score even though you have more strength and height over defender you miss a bunch ..PSN: DirectFX
Currently Playing: PS4

Re: MyCareer Big Men PF/C
I like playing big men a lot. Low agility makes me choose what best to do in any situation because any redundancy could turn into a costly mistake.
Strength and rebounding skills are much needed this year. I see people making light weight big men and I think that basically just take away the main advantage. I actually sacrificed 5 speed to gain more weight for 94 strength. Strength helps me pushing people around a lot posting up or boxing out and Drummond or AD can't move me an inch. Higher rebounding skills seem to give to me a faster animation towards the ball while rebounding.
There are 2 things to complain though. One is the cheesy Grab move (check the controls) - how the hell a small PG can do that and drag my 7'0" 290 lbs center for 7-8 feet? The other thing is they need to add an animation to escape boxing out or make strength & size difference having more effect on this. I always have to anticipate the shot and get between the defender and the basket or I will never have a chance rebounding.Last edited by celviano; 09-23-2016, 09:39 PM.Comment
