Skip to the bottom of this post to find a summary of my findings this year
Hey everybody, this thread is for us fans who are very OCD about our simmed stats in MyLeague, for those gamers who aren't, thats fine this thread isn't for you. Lets try to keep it clean and on point.
So every year I go through the rosters, make sure all the rotations and major coach settings are on point, then sim a couple seasons to see how stats have improved from the previous year.
I start off by looking at the following Team stats first:
- Pace
- Defensive Efficiency
- Offensive Efficiency
- Offensive Rebound %
- Defensive Rebound %
- Opponent Three Pointers Allowed
One big disappointment this year, you aren't able to edit a coaches POE's. Which in 2K16 is the biggest factor that led to realistic stats. This is now gone. And if you can't control the pace of every team in the league then every other stat is going to be inflated and unrealistic. The average pace in the league last season was around 96. That is now the LOWEST a team will average in 2K17. This really disappoints me. I'm going to try and see if there are other coach factors that dictate how fast a team plays. I'll fill you guys in soon.
Updated Summary:
- Player speed/acceleration ratings have no effect on team pace.
- Lowering Player shots/toutches has no effect on team pace.
PROS:
- Player steals stats are editable using the Pass Interception Tendency.
CONS:
- Player Free Throw Attempts Per game remain unchanged (too low)
- Coach Grades (Offense/Defense) have no effect on simmed stats.
- Coach Styles have no effect on simmed stats.
- 90% of the league has an elite defensive efficiency rating.
2K17 League Averages for Teams (listed in order of importance):
Posting this information just in case the Devs decide to address the simmed stats like they said they did last year.
Pace: 98.6
Defensive Efficiency: 103.4
Team Fouls Per Game: 18
Defensive Rebound Percentage: 77% (Perfect)
Offensive Rebound Percentage: 22% (Perfect)
- For reference, the league hasn't had an average pace of 98 since the 1980s. It's just way off. This is whats throwing off most of the other stats. The average pace in the NBA last season was 95.8 and in the last decade its been around 92.5.
- Defensive Efficiency is way too high across the league. The average Defensive Efficiency was 106.4 last season, in 2K17 that number is 103.4. Almost every team has what would equate to a top 10 defensive rating in the real NBA.
- Too few fouls are being averaged. Average team commits 18 fouls a game over the course of a season, in real life that number is 20.
- The actual rebound percentages are fine. The problem is with the Rebound averages. The average team grabbed 33 Defensive rebounds a game last season, in 2K17 that number is 39! Way too high.
