Catcher Reaction Time: Tone it down

I have seen way too many instances where the catcher is in "hyper-warp" reaction time on plays... most commonly when a batter hits a "dribbler". The catcher seems to go into "Benny Hill' speed and start double plays or throw out batters at first.

The most awkward of them all is when you hit the ball off of the very end of the bat and the catcher fields the ball by running it down from behind within the first five feet before the ball stops moving!!!

    This would be similar to;
    - having someone squat down next to you waiting for you to roll a ball underhand (we'll say at 20 mph)

    - the person squatting, standing up first and then needs to run after the ball and grabs it almost immediately... This just is not supposed to be possible. (I know it's a video game but it seems as though this could be rectified.)

This has been an issue for most of the iterations of the show. I tried to globally fix it by turning EVERY catchers Reaction rating to "0" and didn't make any difference...

...Any thought from the fellow OS members?

    "Benny Hill speed"

I'll never think of catcher play in this game the same way.

What's so funny is that when the catcher does one of those "catch-tag-seemingly-warping" moves to get the batter-runner, even the commentary is like "I don't see how that's possible, I think he broke the laws of physics".

They had to do this to prevent excessive bunt-cheesing. Blame the cheesers.

But they dont even feild bunts only swinging bunts.

Also nor do the pithers field bunts thats y bunt cheese works so well also pitchers not covering first or bunts right next to them.

Unfortunaly speed would need reduced as well . It would be nice to have a fielding speed and a baserunning speed .

I had understood reaction to basically = fielding speed

              My understanding:

Reaction = time to begin moving to the ball (it's the "read time" for the fielder). For outfielders, it seems to impact route errors (how fast they continue adjusting to the flight of the ball).

Speed = movement speed all over the diamond, offense and defense

Fielding Speed could be considered Reaction Time + Movement Time = How fast they get to the ball/spot.

They react like Flash to foul lines behind the plate too.

why don't they just reduce the likelihood of a successful bunt (more fouls or more that go too far to be good)? That's what creates the cheesing.

Miguel Montero just had a passed ball on a low and outside slider that was strike three in the bottom of the 9th to win us the game. Giants tied it and eventually won it...made up for all the instant reactions he's had on dinky ground balls, haha -_-
