    Outfielders Pump Faking

Nearly every time a ball is hit to the outfield while I am on defense, my outfielder will pump fake once before throwing to the base I selected. It clearly impacts some throws that would have been out if he had thrown immediately. Why does this happen?

I dunno why but this is by far my biggest annoyance this year. Ive been robbed outs countless times because of this.

Do you have throw cancelling on?

Yes but I am only pressing the base button once. Is that wrong?

No but i'm wondering if something isn't happening to cancel the throw.

But it's not really canceling. It's just a long drawn out animation or not?

I don't know what it is. I have no issues with outfielders pump faking when not instructed or having a long drawn out process.

Everything for me works as intended. Just trying to help out.

Is throw cancelling not on by default?

Pretty sure it's off by default (which is probably supposed to keep "accidents" from happening for new players).

Just to be clear, the outfielder will start his throwing motion towards the infield, then stop, bring the ball back in, and then throw to the base I selected. I'll turn throw canceling off and see if it helps.

Wait a minute. That "bringing the ball back in" sounds more like a gather, and movement to the "throw ready" position, in which case it's possible that you're missing a branch point - ie preloading too late or not at all. If you don't have your throw destination confirmed by the time the outfielder fields the ball, your throw sequence is probably not going to be smooth.

This is really hard to tell without video.

                            Re: Outfielders Pump Faking

This only happens to me when I pre-load the throw to one particular base or cutoff and then need to have the outfielder throw to a different one when he's already committed to my first input.

For example, the ball heads to the RF and I pre-load to the cutoff thinking that the runner wouldn't try to stretch the hit into a double, and when he does take the big turn, I have to throw to the 2B. The RF will pump fake the throw to the cutoff and then wind up and throw to the 2B. I've never managed an OF assist when this happens, but I've had plenty when I correctly predict that the runner will try to stretch it. This is as opposed to just changing target mid-throwing motion, which is something that we can reasonably expect from almost anyone playing outfield in the Majors.

This is the only thing that I've experienced that sounds kind of like what you're describing.

Turning off throw canceling didn't help but I switched from Buttons to Button Accuracy and I think it helped.
