    Whose idea was it.....?

Disclaimer: This IS a rant. I apologize but some of this stuff makes me scratch my head. Before you say I'm just butthurt because I probably lost let me just say that I don't mind losing it's just the way I lose that bothers me (I actually have a good win/loss ratio though). Oh and by the way...I do love the game but some of this stuff is unacceptable gameplay wise.

    1. Whose idea was it to allow people to turbo everywhere, do dribble moves and jump around everywhere without penalty? Fatigue doesn't seem to set in EVER in 2K. Nobody else notice this is a problem?

    2. Whose idea was it to make the game so fundamentally unsound? Why does my A.I. not box out? Why is it that when I pick up a man during a fastbreak the CPU controlled defender comes to the man I'm guarding leaving the other side wide open? Why are rotations on defense SO awful!

    3. Whose idea was it to have wide open fastbreak dunks get chased down so much? And by literally anybody! No fouls get called EVER. You know how hard it is to chase down block a dunk? You have to be UBER athletic ala LeBron to accomplish this.

    4. Whose idea was it to make my defender fall...just because??? This one really gets me. Lol No flop button pressed yet he just....falls. Explain that...

    5. Whose idea was it to make players jump backcourt when being ball denied right next to the halfcourt line? A more general question is...why are players not aware of where they are on the court? It's 2016!

    6. Whose idea was it to bail players out with foul calls when they have nowhere to go under the rim. I didn't jump. I'm holding my ground. Why was a foul called? What else am I supposed to do? You want me to move so he can shoot?

    7. Whose idea was it to make the "contest shot" button make you jump? There's already a jump button. I do not want to jump when I press this. I want to contest. If you make me jump I get out of position. I see what you were trying to do but make me contest if I get faked...not jump altogether.

    8. Whose idea was it to have the defense jog back. Especially when the man they're guarding is CLEARLY in front of them? So annoying. I can't control the whole team. That's a lot of switching and way too much work.

That's all I can think of right now. Again I love the game it's just things that are inconsistent, things that don't make sense that give ya headaches.

    My rant..

This game is driving me mad. The defense is terrible. Constantly missed layups and put backs.

Every time I get ahead. I can't make a shot until the AI catches up.

Can't stand making a guy jump on a pump fake, and then can't run around him. he jumps, steps over.

Also on most transitions the players are way too close to each other, it resembles more rugby than basketball.

      1. Yup. they attempted to fix this to no avail. i've done all of the MT weekly challenges with 5 players.

      2. ALWAYS user rebound. As soon as a shot goes up hit the button combo for the center.

      3. Pump-fake. Lol. But yes, this is a problem.

      4. Not often, but still irks you nonetheless.

      5. yup. They added a "blocking-foul" for playing good defense. But trap near the half court line and it's an automatic over and back.

      6. Try to use players with low foul tendencies. Always user defend, never hit Y and right stick down/up.

      7. Manual shot defense stops this.

      8. Always turbo back to the paint with the center. Stops the majority of these problems.

The game is subpar in many areas when compared to other sports games currently out.

Offensive play calling, freelance motions, and all the customization features in MyLeague are fantastic. But alas, all of that is buried under AI that seems like it hasn't improved any in 6 years.

The OP hits on all the major issues with the game this year. Practically all non User aspects of defense is done poorly. Reading the blogs when the game was released, we know that they intellectually know what should be done, but were completely unable to get it done in terms of implementation, unless a design decision was made in order to keep a certain segment of their online customer base happy.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Main thing I can identify with is the falling for no reason, it's been toned down, but to this day I don't understand the logic behind why it exists...

If I had to add something it's the the ability, and your teammates ability to react to to long passes...

Other than that, issues defensively have been minor or manageable..I know what to do up front to balance the defense behind me. Defense has actually been fun for me this year...

It was. They pretty much said it. They wanted to encourage more on ball defense in h2h matchups so they intentionally dumbed down teammate AI and lowered their shot contest effectiveness to achieve that outcome.

But the fact that the rest of the team plays like morons when you're playing on-ball kinda defeats the purpose.

I appreciate the tips. I actually know how to stop a lot of it it's just the simple fact that I shouldn't have to. Some stuff just shouldn't happen in the game.

For number 5 if a defender is there you just use the post up before you cross the half court line and they can't push you back.

If they wanted to encourage on-ball, why did they make offball OP. It's so hard to get past the CPU that I've seen a huge influx of offball players. And why did they make on-ball harder with all the magnetic pulling that makes it difficult to expeditiously respond to other players besides your "who to guard"

On Ball defense is not that difficult at all and it would be even easier if you could depend on your teammates to not give 6-7 feet of space to shooters, give up easy backdoor cuts, leave the lane unguarded for slashers etc. You have to babysit CPU defenders to get them to play some semblance of good defense. It is ridiculously easy to past a CPU defender. All you have to do is pick a direction and get the CPU going that way and execute a spin move/behind the back dribble in the opposite direction; that will result in a free run to hoop for a dunk 8/10 times.
