Why are Onside Kicks still broken/unrealistic?

How many years have they been broken and how hard could it possibly be to fix? The line drive into a defender and hope it bounces off them isn't how onside kicks are executed.

It's gotten significantly pointless ever since they dumbed it down.

I miss the days when we could aim where on the ball we wanted to kick.

Special teams in general just need a good revamp.

Special teams is the most important unit in a football game.

Heck yeah I'm going to be nit picky when I can't seal a game because squib kicks aren't in Madden 16.

Or be nit picky because onside kicks have no strategy in Madden anymore.

The fact that squib kicks in the game really kind of bothered me I honestly have no idea why they removed them I nearly lost a game because they completed a Hail Mary pass after just fair catching in the end zone. I know you can still do a ghetto squib kick but it just doesn't seem like something that should or need to be removed.

Pretty sure they just didn't wanna deal with people exploiting it. Imagine if someone found a way to recover 2 out of every 4 onside kicks. This is how EA deals with those type of things.

Given that offense and defense for a team are on the field for 60+ plays apiece and you'll be lucky if you see a dozen total special teams plays in a game (including kickoffs which go for touchbacks), I have to disagree.

This is not me saying that special teams isn't important; it is, and in Madden it's unfortunately a bit of an afterthought (other than the revamp to the kicking and punting UI last year, which was welcome). Onside kicks, surprise onside kicks, and squib kicks should all be in the game, there should be a few more creative fake punts and field goals in the game, and I would also like to see things like kickoff coverage specialists and long snappers have a meaningful impact on the game.

But to say those ten special teams plays are disproportionately more important than the other 100 that happen in a football game, I don't think that's true whatsoever.
