    Defence matters? Hmmmm

it's a pity this motto wasn't stretched out to mycareer team mates this year. I play for the Thunder on HoF sim and the continual appalling defence is absolutely killing me. Players allowed to run all the way to the basket without being challenged, watching opponents get open just by standing still, atrocious switching again sending me back and forth till open shots are created.

I understand how people who play online games would love this game, but I play career and park only. I can't cope with the ****ty defence any more. I'm still getting to grips with the new offensive controls, and trying out different jumpshots etc, so I don't particularly mind losing games at the moment, but team mate defence seems even worse than last year.

What are other peoples experiences with this? The AI defence is still crazily overpowered when it comes to reacting to button presses rather than the action again. I've had opponents waiting in the air to intercept a pass my player hasn't made yet because it's reacting to my controller.

Huh? Are you complaining that there's no defense or is the defense is overpowered?

I'm complaining that my team mates don't play any defence at all, and yet the CPU still reacts to things before they even happen.

Things I was expecting to be different this year.

Hall Of Fame difficulty is unrealistic. Try rookie.

Thanks for commenting, but I feel like this is the free pass for 2k. I've always played on HoF sim so I don't see that changing now. The issue isn't difficulty of the level, but the fact my team mates defensive capabilities are even worse than 2k15 despite the fact I remember hearing about how improved our team mates would be and how important defence is.

Because anything lower has always been way too easy for me. I don't want to blow teams out by 40 every match. No doubt I'll get to grips with this and find other ways to combat it as I get better at this years game. I'm just really disappointed that our team mates get worse at the worst part of the game for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

                    Re: Defence matters? Hmmmm

You will NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, get good teammate play out of the CPU on HOF just face it. That difficulty is DESIGNED to dumb down everything on your side of the ball. So your teammates are being dumbed down on purpose to make it harder for the player to win. I actually think your teammates are dumbed down when the difficulty isn't on HOF.

From a user standpoint all difficulty levels are easy for you. It's easy to put up numbers on the cpu, especially with a player you get to design to your liking.

Turning down the difficulty to at most Superstar/Sim, turning auto plays on, and only scoring when the opportunity presents itself is the best way to play the mode imo. As long as you don't go at the stat sheet like Lebron on monkey testosterone every game should be competitive.

Hall of fame,e has always been an artificial difficulty level. The game has been rewritten to provide an even greater challenge at All-Star and Superstar due to better defensive AI and more difficult shot making.

If you're refusing to play at anything lower than HOF, you're just banging your head against the wall and complaining that it's making you bleed.

That said there are some defensive team AI issues I've encountered, but HOF is not the place to lab it.

HALL OF FAME IS A CHALLENGE MODE ( not yelling, just broadcasting)

                        Its supposed to be unfair

You're supposed to be at a disadvantage

The A.I is supposed to know what you're going to do.

Yeah - I can't keep emphasising that I've always played on HoF sim, so I know what it does, and where the challenge comes, but what I'm saying is that it's getting worse.

I'm in the first quarter of my first Superstar/sim game, and I haven't particularly seen my team mate defenders any better than HoF. Clear paths to the basket, open shots, and switching are still really prevalent, even on this difficulty.

                          Defence matters, remember.

I don't want things easy as I've always played HoF, but I dont the worst part of HoF (my team mates) getting even worse.

I appreciate anyone who has replied, but I was genuinely after other peoples impressions on the defensive side of career mode, rather than everyone trying to tell me that HoF is ridiculous. As though I don't know that already!

Defence matters in career mode too.

Gonna need footage man. You just seem to be expecting too much out of MyCareer teammates that have been known to be sub par since 2k11.

I'll record some later today and post it up. I think I'm expecting too much from a 2k released with the "defence matters" tagline, as well as assurances that our team mates would be better (maybe I've made that bit up, but I'm sure I read it).
