How does everyone feel about shooting?

I know the game has only been out 4 days but I would like to get everyone's views on shooting so far...

Since the dev team can adjust it this year without a patch, I thought it would be good to get some dialogue started...(not saying there needs to be an adjustment yet)

I have been struggling a bit personally on SS...fortunately, so have my opponents online so far. The CPU on SS not so much, lol

I'm not sure I understand the logic of the shot meter sometimes, I know that it's harder than before to get a perfect release and on top of that, not all green releases are perfect...but I feel like I miss A LOT of those shots were the yellow bar is almost bleeding into the perfect meter...that should be a pretty high percentage shot right? I missed two FT's in a row with Harden like that yesterday...

Should I not be following the meter, but more the release?

Just wanted to hear some thoughts.

generally if I make sure to get my feet set on an open release within my range it's money

I was playing an outside specialist SG and wondering why I was missing so many threes... then I realized my 3pt rating was only a 71 and making 1/3 would actually be a good rate lol

Feet setting throws me off sometimes, I have shots where I feel like I'm set but then he takes a little step and it messes up my release point.

I think it's just practice .im playing In superstar and I'm averaging 46 fg percentage from the field I think this year is most about the defense you have to stay focus .every possession is important . And the sliders this year are great you don't have to worry about all the time ,2k take care pretty well

Re: How does everyone feel about shooting?

Out of all my complaints for 2k, I actually really like the shooting this year.

It's tough but it makes it a game inside of a game and not just left right left right oh he's open, green meter, splash.

The physics are way better too this year. Lots of shots sinking in different parts of the hoops not all swishes or bricks. Pretty cool so glad they upgraded the rims and made it look nicer around there.

Only beef with the shooting being difficult is that it is encouraging people to just fast break and get center dunks all game because they can't shoot. Also would be nice to have ONCE in a while be able to hit a tougher pull up. Like say you are staring down an opposing pg with Durant, every now and then they can just pull it in their face catch them off guard. They'll never make that in this game ever, once in a while would be cool to mix it up and not need all wide open shots.

I'm on board with it though, please don't change it much if at all

I guess this year is more about getting the right position vs last previous years getting the right timing on release.

If you can remember percentages, post them as well. It could be helpful for a dev.

I have been feeling like im struggling only to look up and im shooting 48%. Seems like im just not hitting everything i WANT to hit and its playing with my head.

last night I went into practice mode and was shooting wide open 3's with curry

did it for a good 15 minutes...not a single perfect release....I've never been a fan of the shot meter though....wish they would do away with it all together

I'm all for bricking open shots, but I wish CPU was held to the same standard

Agreed. Elbow and corner threes on the fast break are still effective this year, just not OP like they were last year. The pull-up midrange game is a ton of fun (Derek Rose hits shots like crazy within 18 feet.) Spot-up guys can hit the catch and shoot even against pretty good closeouts. Bigs with range (Gasol, Ibaka) can shoot over smaller defenders without many problems. Really liking it.

I don't think I've seen the AI shoot above 30% from 3 for an entire game. Unless it's a wide-open, set foot shot, I have almost no confidence that it's going in, which is forcing me to try to get to the rim instead. It's out of balance.

Re: How does everyone feel about shooting?

I'm finding it harder than before. My shooting (not counting pick-and-rolls) has suffered a good bit; I'm not a great shooter anyway and I find myself looking at the shot meter way too much to determine if I had a good one. I think I'm just going to turn it off and rely on the visual feedback.
                      Any comments are welcome.

IMHO I find shooting to be insanely accurate to real life. Let's be honest, the top NBA shooters are around the low 40% mark. In 2k15, every position seemed to be shooting over 70% in the parks, JRC and maybe My Team.

I'm satisfied with the shots. Yes, I've missed some wide open 3's and mid-ranged jumpers, but the community is quickly adapting. Nobody (at least in my group of friends) is complaining when a jumper is missed because it's not expected to be automatic as it was before. It forces you to take closer, high percentage shots.

Also, I don't think we have money jumpers anymore. I picked a random new jumper and I do well with it online as opposed to being stuck with Aldridge, Rudy Gay, John Wall, #22 and #70 jumpers in order to have any success in 2K15.

I thought more green releases would miss. I've only missed one green release and that was in freestyle mode.

The meter is broken on some shots too, but I don't really wanna push that because of last year

If your complaining about a meter, your off to the wrong start. It's not to be dependent on. It's just a assessment of the shot you took. All these problems are user error. I play on HOF SIM and have scored nothing less than 92. This is probably the bet sim game made. Everyone got what they asked for.. Now most realize how low there basketball IQ really is.. Sad.

Once I stopped paying attention to the shot meter, I can shoot pretty well. Hovering around 45% from the field and around 90% from the free throw line.
