Who are the most overrated cards this year?

Time's winding down on 2k15's life as we look ahead to 2k16 and the many improvements that it should have. I thought about all the OP cards that came out this year, but how about some of the not-so-worthy cards?

Here's my list of overrated cards that I've experienced with:

    1. George Mikan: Great stats all around, but awful vertical with only a 6'10 body to work with. Also, it doesn't help that he needs to be WIDE open under the basket as he can't make anything under contact.

    2. Onyx Derrick Rose: Not very efficient at contact layups as opposed to a Ruby magic johnson. Stamina is depleted quickly as well. I'll give him props in that he can be very clutch at times.

    3. Onyx Lebron: Not really gonna critique his skillset, but if you were blindfolded and your buddy swapped your onyx lebron for a gold one and you took your blindfold off when the game started, you wouldn't notice a single thing.

    4. Sapphire Yao Ming: Tall, yes, but has a tendency to blow the easiest of shots even if guarded by someone a ft. shorter than him. Post Fade is also extremely inconsistent even with gold Fade ace badge.

Who are your most overrated cards? These 4 that I mentioned are STRICTLY off of personal experiences, and maybe you've experienced the complete opposite.

For me it was Durant. He felt like a construction worker, kept throwing up bricks! Melo was my go-to SF, his shot was great, good rebounding and money lay-ups.

Agree on Durant. He is very inconsistent (both gold and diamond versions) on attack.

Gold LBJ also sucks thie year, in my opinion.

The jersey number would be a dead giveaway

You can actually really tell a difference between Gold and Onyx LeBron. The increased athleticism is readily apparent, and I'm getting tons of green releases with the Onyx, which wasn't the case with the gold. I also really like the KD cards, the key is to get him going early and learn his releases (plural). I agree with the other cards mentioned in the OP.

For me, some of the PDs were the most overrated cards. PD Shaq plays like Cavs/Boston Shaq, he suffers a lot from the weaknesses big men have in the post this year. PD Malone is massively crippled by his 50 vert, it makes him a poor defender, and rebounder, combined with his small frame and short arms. PD Bird is great with the ball in his hand in the post, but bad in almost every other situation. His lack of athleticism makes it so that he can guard neither 3s or 4s, which any semi-decent opponent can easily abuse. His release also makes it so that his shooting isn't as good as his stats would suggest.

Any version of Curry is underwhelming since his release is weird and hard to time. He's a great finisher and a midrange assassin, but there are plenty of PGs available that are similar in those respects while being way better defensively. Any small PG is underwhelming when paired up against bigger PGs like Oscar and Magic, which makes a whole class of cards undesirable.

Pink Diamond Curry. He is TRASH! He slips and slides everywhere on defense and his jumper gets blocked even when he creates 3 feet of space (Should NEVER happen), he misses wide open 3s and has minimal athletic ability.

Re: Who are the most overrated cards this year?

Has easily been Onyx Jerry Lucas for me. His 99 O/D rebounding is negated by the fact that he's only 6'8". I still vividly remember Sapphire DeAndre Jordan grabbing 4 or 5 consecutive rebounds over Lucas. He also has a subpar postgame (70 post hook, 77 post fade, e.t.c.) and while he has a great jumper for a "big", he doesn't get open enough and has mediocre plays.

Sold him 3 days after buying him along with Emerald Kawhi Leonard who was fantastic for me.

The best Durant for me was Ruby. I loved that card. While I agree with Durant....especially Diamond version, which sucked.....I dont know what you are talking about with Gold LBJ. The most used player on the game I am sure. For me he sure was. He and PG13 were the best value cards in the game imo. The only lineups I didnt have LBJ in was ones where i couldnt use Golds.

I was really interested in that Onyx Lucas card but will pass now.

Nearly all historic wings are overrated by virtue of being underrated. Adrian Dantley for instance is an 89....I dont play RTTP really but I cant imagine this card being in anyone's lineup. In real life the guy was a beast. In-game.....virtually useless. same goes for the rest except David Thompson maybe.

If you are using Hondo as just a spot up shooter....the Gold is just as good as Ruby or Onyx sans the badges. Which makes them virtually overrated...although I love the Ruby card.

I had a fully badged Bird and I was getting crushed with him in my lineup on certain challenges. As soon as I replaced him, even with a much lower rated player, winning was a breeze. He wasnt very good at getting open and when he was, he would miss sometimes due to his release being way more complicated then it should have been. Good post game but if he can shoot or struggle defending, he hurt more than he helped.

sn: there is an Emerald Kawhi in this game? I remember people saying there would be one but I only seen the Ruby released.

Diamond Shaq- He can't post fade, gets dunked on and gets outrebounded.

Sapphire Paul George - Never could get his shot down

                    Some others but it's late.

Not really, i loved using those type of guys. The only thing they can't do is shoot 3's and that's easily made up for by putting in a stretch 4 or even just the sg and pg. 3 3pt shooters is plenty and 2 is enough imo.

Anyway, all of them are excellent from mid and it just so happens that the (open) midrange jumper is probably the most reliable shot in the game. Other than that they're all excellent fastbreak players, most with 80+ alley oop tendency along with various useful badges. Then there's the high draw foul tendencies, making them good slashers in the half court. They have a pretty high off/def consistency as well making them reliable.

In short, if you use them to their strengths they're extremely useful.

Based on my experience i'd rank them:

                      1. reggie lewis (defense sets him apart)
                      2. david thompson
                      3. jamaal wilkes
                      4. bernard king
                      5. alex english

Then there's adrian dantley, rolando blackman (only used them a couple of games so can't really rank them, i didn't like rolando's player model and dantley got injured and i just forgot to put him back in at the time)

                        2. Onyx Jason Kidd - he is exceptional at steals, however
                        3. Onyx Amare Stoudemire - 95 dunk and vertical mean nothing with slow footspeed, quickness
                        4. Onyx Ray Allen - imo, jumpshot this year is glitched. A dozen shooters I would start before him, which just isn't right
                        Deandre Jordan (DR)
                        Lamarcus Aldridge
                        Antoine Walker (Celtics)

If you're interested in buying Onyx Jerry Lucas, go for him. It was just my personal experience. I'd much rather prefer the Onyx Dirk card, he's unstoppable.

I definitely agree with you on the overrated wings comment and may I add not only wings but bigs too. Though I never watched them, I'm very aware that Jerry Lucas and Bob Pettit are exponentially greater players than Bosh/Aldridge in real life, but not in 2K. It honestly sucks how underrated and overrated some of these throwback cards are. Vlade Divac's passing stats in the 40's???? '06 Kobe with a 97 On Ball Defensive rating?? Jameer Nelson with a higher 3PT rating than Ray Allen? '11 Rose > '09 Wade/'06 Dirk/'08 CP3/'02 Duncan?!?!?!? Unbelievable. I'm a Heat fan but that Onyx Wade is easily the most underrated and disrespected card in the whole game.

I respectfully disagree with your Hondo comment. I've tried both the Ruby and Onyx. The Onyx's shooting is on another level, IMHO. Those fading 3's are something serious. I do understand where you're coming from though because from my experience, aside of defense, I didn't see a difference in the shooting stats between Emerald and Ruby Klay Thompson.

Yeah, I meant the Ruby Kawhi when I mentioned the Emerald. He's a beast. 2K did screw him over with the 45 O consistency (never been a problem for me with gold or emerald) and 58 post fadeaway ratings. Defensively, he's near Onyx Artest but doesn't get much on ball steals despite the 99 steal rating, surprisingly. He does make up for it with deflections and interceptions, though. When I had him, he locked up Ruby Klay, Gold LBJ, Gold Harden (LOL), and KD through the first 3 quarters.

Interesting take on Onyx Amar'e. I was hesitant on purchasing him due to his lack of badges (2-5, really, 2K?) and his 67 speed, 68 quickness, 82 vertical, and 82 stamina (C'mon, 2k). However, I had no problem scoring with him. He was consistently averaging between 19-22 points for me. His 90 mid range has to be respected. Then again, I bought a badged up Ruby Dunkers Blake Griffin shortly afterwards and he was on another... tier should I put it, lol.

I'm looking forward to using Kidd but I doubt I have enough for him.

Curry is number 1, when i see a guy with curry on the team i smile knowing most of his shots probably wont fall LMFAO

Number 2, YAO. Bruh. as we say on the courts when a big guy shows up and its quite obvious that all he got going for him is hieght , HES BIG FOR NOTHING. and due to his size, 2k animations pretty much make him a shaq'n the fool nominee every game

3, PG13 . I love him but i cant help to think his shot is glitched this year. i cant hit ANYTHING with him on MT. and its still funny in other games modes

I see lots of Diamond Durants hate here and elsewhere. lol . i just got him a few days ago and hes been a absolute BEAST for me. this is probably due to the last patch making this game LOL. but its still funnyto watch how good he can be.
