FIFA players have to play against Spain in PES! Here's why:

I'm using England and playing Spain in the semi finals of the World Cup.

Spain kicks off (which is unusual as I almost always kick off) and they pass the ball MORE than 21 times before they ever cross the midfield line.

The reason I say "more than 21 times" is because I didn't start counting right away. I'm guessing they passed the ball 7-10+ times before I started counting, many of which were back passes.

They ended up with 72% possession in the first half and ended the game at 68%. They beat me 2-1 and frustrated me to no end.

Both goals were a result of my pulling players out of position in frantic, feeble, desperate attempts to dispossess the CPU.

I have a few friends who play the other game and would love to see Spain play this way.

We are very fortunate to be on team PES.

Yeah it is pain playing very good possession teams like Spain and Barca. I will say toughest team is still Bayern they rip me apart easily, especially on Superstar. Only way I can counter them is changing my tactic to put as much players behind the ball and set my backline slightly deeper to stop Schweinsteiger and Alonso from destroying me with the long ball and through passes.

This is true and very good indeed. But needs some balance. There are other teams that play the possession tactic, but they are way weaker then Spain, but still play in a way wich is almost impossible to get the ball from. Anyway, I prefer this then the Fifa team tactics, wich favours the always attacking mentality and makes the gameplay in midfield almost inexistent.

I didn't realize that other teams also play like this. Maybe I haven't played enough games yet. All I know is that they drove me mad and forced me in to mistakes.

Now,mid only the teams would change formation based on game circumstances, I would be an even happier man

Yeah there are other teams doing it, but messing with tactics will change it and make it more realistic, for 2nd division teams for example. Konami´s were just too lazy to do it themselves.

I was playing in 2nd division in England for my master league. Yeah I love how Spain plays in this game but I thought I'd see more long ball played by English teams but too many of them are imitating Spain football.

Can you suggest some tactics change that I can do to English CPU teams?

Yeah quite a few teams are set to possession short with few in attack, which makes them create very little chances and pass the ball too much in the back field. Possession and Long Ball is a good tactic to set for a few of the Lower English teams. Also I recommend checking out Klashman's blog where he has posted all formations for the English teams ( Premier League). Really great stuff as I agree with most of his formations except Swansea. He has them set as a Possession team but they play on the counter attack most of time and barely keep possession above 50%. Everything else is pretty good though, link below.

Thanks for the link man! Awesome info!

Got a question...so does the CPU keep the tactics you assign?

They sure do and will use fluid formation as well as the defensive tactic.

Thank you so much! Very well done blog.

I'll be implementing those changes this week so I can enjoy it during holidays.
