Does the method from the past few installments still work to unlock boosts offline?

The method I am referring to is playing be a pro on pro difficulty level with adjusted sliders in your favor so that you can easily score points every game and unlock the boosts much quicker

It works on NHL 13, not sure about the rest. You can even boost in a game getting a lot of goals and once you reach the assist and goals that you need, all you have to do is start a game then go to exit and it simulates it for you but still counts as a game being played.

WHat Im wondering is, if you can use a save editor to get the boosts that are too hard to get and that would mean either playing legit for a few years in-game or boosting which takes the fun out of it.
