Really wish the new instant replay was put in place earlier.

After today's announcement of managers being able to challenge a call, I first thought about the show 14. I wish it would be in this game but with the game most likely entering the final stage of development, it will be extremely unlikely for them to get the new replay rules in the game. There's always The Show 15.

Or they could have expected this since it was approved back in Nov and they have it ready just in case it passed.

I hope this is the case, but the vote was only finalized today. When the MLB expanded the playoffs a couple of years ago, the vote was so late in the dev cycle that they weren't able to include it in the Show.

It sort of makes sense though, why would SCEA waste time working on it if it wasn't guaranteed to be officially adopted by MLB?

If it's not included in the initial release, maybe it can be something patched in. But it would require a lot of presentation aspects. Who knows though, if not this year...definitely MLB 15.

Edit: You know though, they may have done something since it was tested in the playoffs this past season. We'll have to wait and see.

But it was voted on by the teams and the Managers back in Nov so its not like it wasnt expected.

I doubt it will be in. These guys are working hard on three versions right now so they probably don't have time to work on features that are not absolute certainty.

Hope for the best though. It is the Show dev team after all!

I would not get your hopes up too high for this. Basically the same situation of when the expanded playoffs got approved, we did not see it until the next version.

Yeah but the only difference was that wasnt approved until Mar 2 of 2012.
Thats def too late to add in even if they did plan for it.
Im not saying IR will be in MLB14, but I am saying they arent being broadsided by this news. Its been in motion for no less than 4 months now.

It is possible. Likely? Meh. Anyone's guess. But it is possible.

Also instant replay is quite different that the first to third balk.... It's much more involved. They probably want to have the whole presentation element as well as having to write the AI to determine where runners should be if a call is overruled. Plus you need the logic for when the CPU should challenge a call. It's a lot more that adding a cutscene or animation.

Just to interject here guys, I doubt it will be in too. Really, though, in The Show, how many times is there a blown call, even when you have the settings set on mistakes for the umpires? I am not too concerned.

Not only that but even though we pretty much knew it was coming the implementation of it was unknown so it would have been impossible to prepare for up until it was officially announced on how it would be used.
