What would be a realistic trade for Peterson?

After hearing Peterson's offhand comments about playing for his hometown team, I want to spice up a Cowboys Franchise and trade for Adrian Peterson in the first Offseason. I do, however, want to keep the trade as realistic as possible (and yes, I know AP would 'realistically' never be traded).

What do you think a realistic trade for AP would consist of?

My initial thoughts were probably two 1st, a future 2nd and DeMarco Murray for Peterson and two lower round draft picks. That seem reasonable? Too much? Not enough?

I wouldn't give up too much for an aging RB. Even as great as he is. But I would trade a 1st 2nd and next year 3.

Probably the only realistic trade for him would happen 3 years or so in the future.

First I would see if you can even get him.

Marshall Faulk had 1000+ yards every season in his 5 year career, minus one injury year. He also just had 2000+ yards from scrimmage the year he was traded.
He went for a 2nd and a 5th. Yeah, he was a trouble maker, but he was also only 25 years old at the time.

If that trade was offered in real life, the Vikes would be packing AP's bags for him.

There are a few issues I have with this idea. First, the Cowboys don't even need a running back, DeMarco Murray is a great young player. Secondly, it's so easy to run the ball, you don't even need an elite back like AP. Third, you're offering too much for AP. Yeah, he's an incredibly rare talent, but he's 28, has had a bunch of major injuries and has really been a workhouse for the past several seasons. Not to mention his enormous contract. I think a first round pick and fourth round pick this year and a second round pick next year would be good. Minnesota is a terrible team and needs draft picks to build up their overall roster, especially the QB position. Big trades in the NFL are so few and far between its hard to say what a realistic trade would be. You have ridiculous trade like the Herschel Walker and Ricky Williams trades that were ridiculously one sided. Then you see guys like Jon Beason go for what a fifth round pick ? Randy Moss, Marshall Faulk, Trent Richardson... The most any of these guys was traded for was a first rounder and that's cause Richardson is so young. I don't know what kind of trade logic the CPU uses as I haven't made any trades at all this season, but I think he would be pretty difficult to get. Your proposed trade seems more than adequate to me. I wouldn't even give up Murray. I'd trade him to another team to get some draft picks back.

Did anyone try to get the trade influence coach package? Maybe it gives him a chance to get him :P

Re: What would be a realistic trade for Peterson?

The main reason I want to do the trade is just to have some fun, that's all. I don't seriously think the Cowboys should trade for Peterson in real life, Jerry would likely be beheaded somewhere in public.

Murray is a good back and has shown flashes but he's far too injury prone. He can't be relied upon to be a season long option at RB.
