    Goalies: Aggressiveness

The Revamped Team is making progress!

Just as we're making every skater unique, we want to do the same for goalies. Besides rating them, we'd like your feedback on how "aggressive" they are. Aggressiveness for goalies is basically how far they come out to challenge shooters. We've decided on this scale:

    65 = Passive i.e. Lundqvist, Crawford
75 = Balanced (majority of NHL goalies)
    85 = Aggressive i.e. Halak
95 = Very Aggressive i.e. Tim Thomas, Kari Ramo

    We're listening!

    Passive
    Henrik Lundqvist
    Corey Crawford
    Jonathan Bernier
    Brian Elliot

    Aggressive
    Jaroslav Halak
    James Reimer

    Very Aggressive
    Tim Thomas
    Karri Ramo
    Jonathan Quick

    Other Notables
    Roberto Luongo (70)
    Cory Schneider (80)
    Carey Price (80)

You ever set one to 99 and try it?
They act like Patrick Roy, wandering all over the ice. makes things interesting.

Lol. I tried it with Hiller. When he came out to play the puck, he ended up skating in too far; passed it right onto Daniel Sedin's stick who slapped it home for an easy goal.

That let me know 99 is a bit too high; it clouds goalies' common sense.

Bernier should be really low like lundqvist
Riemer should be agressive like halak

There is no common sense in EA goalies. Find a way to make them effectively cover the puck and not give up juicy rebounds so often.

Yup; haven't seen many juicy rebounds so far.

What also helped was setting goalie passing at 2, and cover puck frequency at 5. Goalies cover the puck realistically this way instead of diving at a ridculously high frequency for nearby pucks.

I agree about Bernier, but Reimer is thanks to new goalie coach changing his style, as it was evident in last few games, he is staying more to blue circle, so I think, that he is just a little bit above average, but not as much as Halak.

                    Brilliant work!
I would love to see more noticeable styles between the goalies, and despite watching hockey for 20 years, I know little about them style wise.

What would you make of Holtby and Neuavy at the Caps?

As always, with all your work, I am very very gratefull

                      Chipping in with some thoughts

                      Luongo - Passive
Lack - Balanced (high eg. 80)
Schneider - Balanced (high eg. 80)
                      Price- Balanced (high eg. 80)

Would you really describe Luongo as being Passive? Does he really stay in the crease most of the time?

Based on Team Canada games and the few canucks games ive seen I would judge him as an agressive

Maybe he's high on the passive scale. He's no Lundqvist but he certainly doesn't play aggressive. He's a total Allaire butterfly goalie that makes himself big and try's to block pucks. As a Canuck fan I wish he would be more aggressive and challenge shooters more.

My comparison is more directly with Schnieder who does challenge more.
