High School NCAA Football 2014 Team Directory Project

High School NCAA Football 14 Team Directory Project

    GUIDELINES
Official High School Player Rating Scale
    ESPN Grade (Top Prospects): 70-95
Starter (FCS, DII, or other college): 69 Max
    Starter (no college): 63 Max
    Back-ups/Scrubs: 60 Max

Two-Way Players; High school teams often have times where many players will play both ways (offense and defense). For the purposes of this project, if a player does play two-ways, then they will be created twice; once for their offensive position and once for their defensive position. Try to keep the players speed and acceleration the same for both positions, but not all ratings need to be identical. Essentially you are creating two seperate players that happen to have the same name, number, height, weight, etc. This will allow for better gameplay and roster structure. The players OVR does not need to be the same for both positions and in many cases should be different. A player may be a better RB then LB, etc.

If these guidelines are not followed your team will not be posted.

    Recruiting Pitches

Program Prestige: This will be based on the popularity of the school on a NATIONAL level. This can be debatable, if you have questions...ask and we can receive input from others on how well known that particular school is. This really isn't that important as I doubt many people will be importing high school teams into their Dynasties for recruiting purposes...
    - Nationally Known: 5 stars
    - Regionally Known: 4 stars
    - State Known: 3 stars
    - County/State Known: 2 stars
    - Unknown: 1 star

Academic Prestige: This could vary a lot, so that's up to you!

Campus Lifestyle: Another one that's up to you.

Coach Experience: Give a bonus of one grade if the Coach has experience as an FBS Head Coach/NFL coaching experience; or a full letter grade for experience as an NFL HC.
    No exp: D
Less than 2 years exp: D+
    3 years: C
    5 years: C+
    7 years: B
    10 years exp: B+

Coach Prestige: If the coach has been part of a successful team, as a player or coach they should be highly ranked. Also if they had respectable careers as players adjust accordingly.

    Championship Contender: Debatable...

Athletic Facilities: Should be no higher than C+ with 95% of schools falling in the D/D+ range.

Pro Potential: This will factor in current NFL players, past NFL players, and the level of their success. (Non-NFL players may have a small impact: UFL, AFL, AFL2, CFL, etc.) Cap at C+.

Program Stability: Debatable and higher grades given to schools with a streak of winning seasons longer than 5 years. Programs with head coaching changes should see a penalty.

Program Tradition: Debatable and higher grades should be given to schools with a reputation of winning, putting out quality players, have a name that college football fans know.

    Fan Base: Debatable

Once you complete a team, post it it here with your XBox/PS Gamertag and the Timestamp. If you do not follow the guidelines I will not include it in the list.

If you have any questions/comments/suggestions feel free to ask, lets work as a team to create the most realistic replications around!

Re: High School NCAA Football 2014 Team Directory Project

As this project gets rolling, we need to decide how to treat 2-way players. There are a few options in my mind (for all examples we will use "John Doe" who plays QB and SS):

Option A) Create John Doe at his primary position, QB, and rate his defensive skills accordingly. Issues with this are that some HS rosters may not be able to fill out an entire roster so we may end up with some "WR #14" players who we can rate minimal. Other issue is that the person downloading the team will have to manually set the depth charts within the game to accurately reflect John Doe playing SS.

Option B) Create two John Does. One at QB with those skill set and one at SS with those skill set. Issues with this are obviously there are "two" of the same player on the same team. Also when getting to LB/RB type positions, there may be times on Special Teams when the "two" players could be on the field at the same time.

          Thoughts? Any other ideas?

Cant certain positions only play certain other positions?

Like when I was in school our QB was also a DE (he was actually a better DE than a QB)...in the game I don't believe you can put a QB at DE or the other way around.

I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that's how it was in previous installments.

If that is in fact true, then we would have to go with option B; having John Doe created twice, once for QB and once for SS.

I personally believe this would be the better route. Of course this would ruin the Dynasty aspect, but honestly I'm not sure how many people would be importing these teams into Dynasty (aside from maybe utilizing it for season purposes and stat tracking)...

That's very true, I'm starting to warm up to the idea of having two "John Does" on the team, especially when we run across the scenario (and it will happen) when that QB does play DE or some odd combination like that, the only other option I can think of now, is to fill the empty sports with JV rosters, but like I said before those are just so hard to come buy and it would be hard to rate the players because we don't know how good they could become. Another problem I'm starting to run across is depth charts, it's hard to rate the players when the rosters only have the positions and no stats may be available for that team, max preps is the website I've been using for most of my information.

Yes this is another problem; depth charts. You're research and guess is as good as anybody's.

For starters, sometimes you'll be able to find pictures of a recent game (MaxPreps or local newspapers are great resources) and piece together the starters by jotting down #s. This is extremely helpful for linemen (no stats at all). Highlights of games are good resources as well and obviously if it is a top team that is shown on ESPN3 or another TV source.

But depth charts (beyond starters and who are shown in game pictures) will never be perfect.

If you are going to have two John Does you should probably give me low stamina for both players. Since he wouldn't be playing both ways really a 90 stamina would basically give him a 180 stamina.

That is actually what i have been doing, it's been a huge help at least for the starters, i know it won't ever be perfect but i'm trying my best to make it come as close as possible. Now with backup's i'm just shooting in the dark because most of the time thy're no stats or even pictures of those guys.

I have several Alaska teams that are uniform-accurate only (mainly because rosters are pretty much impossible to find here). Would you still be OK with me posting them like the old thread allowed? If you want them, my GT is akacesleafs (Xbox 360).

For this thread; in order to be added to the dashboard (2nd post), you will need to follow guidelines for rosters and uniforms. Uniform only teams can be posted (other thread may be better for that), but won't receive any attention from me for the dashboard.
