Using chew clock to keep your opponent from ever touching the ball...

Well, almost. I just had a player run chew clock on me the whole game.

To start the game, I kicked off to him. He then proceeded to run the same money run up the gut every time with the occasional slant pass sprinkled in. I got the ball back with less than a minute remaining in the first half and was not able to score. I scored to start the second half and never saw the ball again.

    Ridiculous.

Its annoying, but its a strategy just like the no huddle. How was his run a glitch?

Ugh, what? He had the ball for 9 minutes. Let's translate that to real time, using ratios. That's a 27 minute drive. The NCAA record is just over 14 minutes.

Also, the same play over and over, to me = glitch. Whether it's a run, a pass, a screen, the option, etc.

He must have converted like every third down. I don't see how it would be so difficult to stop a run up the middle if its not a glitch.

            It's called "money plays."

But they don't. 5 minute quarters were chosen for this game because it most simulated a full game... if you don't run chew clock.

Well, what were you running on defense? Did you pinch your DL? Try A-gap blitzes with your linebackers? A guy running dives all game shouldn't be THAT hard to stop.

It's a solid strategy on that guy's part. He knows it will get to people's heads and it obviously got to your's. No different than the ole four corners offense in basketball. I did a similar tactic in College Hoops 2k8 when I played online. Milked the clock on offense to under 5 seconds on the shot clock and find a high percentage shot near the hoop. Always received a friendly message after my victories

Hahahaha so turning chew clock on in the game, running the same glitchy run play (which btw would probably have gotten him at least 5 yards each time) is fine? Hahaha turning chew clock on in the first quarter of the game is fine? Someone please explain to me and tell me how this is fine cause I'm not understanding. Tactic? Strategy?

Btw Nolez, that's a game I would've quit out of

Of course I pinched the DL and as soon as I would blitz the A gap with the LBs, he would break out the slant. Every time. I'm 23-10 with a 0 DNF%. I know how to play the game.

This is the problem with ranked matches. If someone did this in an OD game, I would be upset, but in a ranked match, I mean, I wouldn't be that mad, cuz if you think about it, why not?

The only point is to win. It isn't to play sim and execute a gameplan, it isn't about recruits, or building a program, or engineering a heisman campaign, it is just about increasing the win ratio. What does he have to gain by playing legit?

It's just the nature of the beast, this is what ranked matches are now. I played 110 ranked matches in NCAA 11 and had fun, but I stopped in NCAA 12 and have never looked back, it just isn't the type of experience I am looking for. That being said, since there is no prize for playing sim or legit, I mean, why hold it against the guy. In the world of ranked matches wins are all that matter, I feel like thats the bottom line you sign up for when you hit the find game button

                        No Run commit?

I've found that running a Cover 4 and run commiting up the middle offers the best defense if the only pass they are capable of is the slant. That and spotlighting the reciever on the other side of the field while manually covering the other with a LB or safety also works surprisingly well.

That said, if you don't have guys on defense who can tackle he's going to fall forward every time for 4 to 5 yards just from bouncing off your defenders. It's really annoying when it happens.

Run commit was not working. Thanks for the legit reply though! I'll try the cover 4 if/when it happens again.

It was 4th down and he was at the 4 yard line about to score. He dove, with the QB, over the line. I hit him hard at the line of scrimmage and he helicoptered into the endzone for a touchdown.

what run play gets 5 yards against any defense? even goal line, getting a LB close to the line and then using short zones? nothing? that's very hard to fathom

Doesn't sound like glitching to me...even if it was that's up to you to adapt. He was setting you up by running and then throwing off that...sound game plan.
