BAGM Mode: Rosters

Alright guys: what rosters are you using in BAGM these days? EA's, Tonics, the Revamped Rosters?

I've noticed some benefits of both the Revamped Rosters and the one Tonic modified.

The Revamped Rosters offer really good player seperation, but it seems like from the second year onward things just get messed up (even after re-worked potentials). I also noticed that since there's such a great ratings gap between players, the trade logic can be bad. E.g. Detroit traded away Jimmy Howard to the Canadiens for a 2nd round pick and Danny Kristo.

In year 2, I'm seeing depleted goalie crops after Martin Brodeur retired. New Jersey has Kinklaid starting, and he only has about a 72 OVR. I'm also seeing some defensemen on the 4th lines o certain teams. Stats are great for the most part in the first year, and I especially like the goalie stats. What I'm noticing is that there's no grey line between the good teams and the bad teams; no real middle of the road teams. It's either your good, or you're really bad, and simulating games shows no mercy in that regard.

For Tonic's rosters, AI is alot smarter. You won't see as many weird trades. Rookies play and progress. On the other hand, progression is overdone (because of EA's system not the rosters), so teams end up having ratings of 4.5 starts for offense, defense and goaltending by years 2 and 3. Goalie stats are a little shaky at times too.

Getting a bit frustrated.

I use Revamped. Haven't really tried any others.

I'm biased, obviously

I also keep trades off until the deadline, and waivers off as well. I liked the revamped ones a lot, but it wasn't being updated very frequently (they only had the NHL done last time I checked).

Well, the BAGM 360 Revamped Rosters are out now. I'll have to start my BAGM over with those again, and I'll turn trades and waivers off until the deadline and offseason.

and let us know how the players developed in the course of your BaGM. my biggest gripe, and its not the fault of Revamped roster, is that the rookies or draft, after you play them in 1st year their development shoot up to high 80s or even at low 90s (starting point is mid 70's). UNREALISTIC development, IMHO.

But I will appreciate it if you keep us updated...since I MIGHT skip NHL 14 for obvious reasons (EA missing statement about - NZ plays, Presentations, Team Celebrations after goal etc.). To satisfy my NHL game "needs" I might stick with NHL 13 or 09 if there'll be a updated roster for 09.

THanks.

I'll keep you posted. I already know I'll be adjusting some potentials - even after the Revamped Rosters' potential edits - and doing some rating tweaks.

E.g. The Leafs ran away with the cup and led the league in points in my BAGM season, so I need to tweak Kadri's rating a bit. By year two, the whole leafs top line was stacked (Kadri and Lulpul at 88, Kessel was like 90).

Also, former Flyers' prospect Niko Hovinen progressed quite a bit - way more than he should have. I have to take another look at my BAGM and see what else I need to adjust. Maybe then I can finally enjoy BAGM mode .-.

please....dont forget us...

im using your sliders as my based and adjusted 2-3 to fit my taste. EA really messed up the progression of players here in 13. No wonder their prediction that NYR will will the SC, no offense to NYR fans.

IMO, NHL 13 is like a steak that you're anticipating, skip lunch so you will enjoy the supposed to be tasty, meaty and juicy steak at dinner but when the steak was served, it was burnt and cold, the only thing you can eat is the veggie on the side and mashed potato.
