    Day Z

Anyone play this mod? I was thinking about trying it out. I know you have to have Arma 2 to play it. Not sure if my laptop could run it or not.

DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, players follow a single goal: Survive by any mean necessary.

A bunch of Arma 2 guys on OS play this mod. Look into the Arma threads and they discuss this a lot. I play very infrequently but it is a whole lot of fun. I have also heard that there is a full game of this mod in the works somewhere.

Yeah standalone was announced a while back.

TBH better off waiting for that. arma 2 engine is fantastic, but buggy as hell unfortunately.

It brings powerful desktops to their knees.

I'll probably stay away from it then. No way my laptop could run it. Sounds like a lot of fun though. I even read there could be a console version sometime down the road.

There is also a World Z?

I'll try it out if you can find it. Thanks.

I need to read up on it a little more. I just saw the mention of it and the site.

Is anybody down to play this??? I'm playing the Dayz Epoch mod with a friend and we need help.

The epoch mod allows us to create a base and even fortresses. Its basically like a action rpg mmo.
The server we're currently playing on has slow walking zombies so you can really focus on gathering supplies and building your encampment.

Is the Standalone out for DayZ? I haven't kept up with this since I played the mod last summer.I re-installed Windows as well on PC this fall so I haven't re-installed Arma and the Mod yet either.

Don't believe so, it seemed like it would be coming soon for a while but I think they were racing War Z since it was a similar type game and once that released and seemed to disappoint quite a few they seemed to pump the brakes and really take their time with the stand alone. (I could be completely wrong about this but just the way it seemed to me, sounded like the standalone was really close then here we are still without it)

I'm looking forward to it, played Day Z for a while but the hacking got to be unbearable.

Looks like the standalone is still in alpha. Was really hoping to play this on PS4, but it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

                            It really is an Alpha

I really can't emphasize enough - this is going to be an early access project on steam. It's a true-blue alpha. Massive areas of the engine were entirely reworked, involving a large team of people over the last 12 months. Much of what these achievements will enable won't be seen for many months - so I really plead for anyone who is on the fence to take a skeptical approach - watch streams, read reviews, watch some let's play and form your opinion. You could always come back to the game in three, six months time and buy it then.

Buying early will be a recipe for disappointment, it's a chance for those who want to be part of that whole process. For them, the process is as much as part of the game as the whole experience. For many, this is the opposite of what they want. To enable a smooth launch, we really are targeting it at a core audience who want to get deeply involved in a very barebones experience that is a platform for future development.

I have not encountered any hacking during my time with the game. roughly 25+ hours.
