Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

I'm enjoying MW quite a bit. The graphics are amazing, the environments are detailed, and the cars are great. EA has captured the feeling of speed when driving luxury cars. The engine noises for each car sound true to the real life version.

I've only played for about an hour and have mainly played Single player but did get a couple Multiplayer matches in.

This game is worth the $60 IMO.

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

The buzz about this game has been virtually nonexistant on OS. I was wondering if we'd even get an impressions thread lol. Sounds pretty good from what I've been reading about it online. I should have it in the mail in a couple of days, so I'll chime in with my thoughts then.

It had me sold on the commercial. I picked up WWE today and plan on getting ACIII. Really didn't want to see another game of interest.

So far I am enjoying it but not sure if I am going to be keep it.

The multiplayer is insanely weak and an afterthought.

Totally disappointed by this game. Played for an hour and ended up breaking a controller for the first time in years cuz of a game.

Too bad cuz I love racing games. Def turning it in for something else tomorrow

What about the game made you break your controller?

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

I'm luke warm on the game. After playing for an hour, I don't necessarily have that desire to want to go back to it, unlike Forza Horizon.

The city design while cool, just doesn't have that wow factor to it. While it's an open world, you don't feel the wide openess to the driving because you have buildings and other structures all around.

I'm also not a fan of the of the graphics. They're a bit grainy and washed out, although "your car" is quite detailed.

I agree that it's a bit hard to control the car, even on straight aways. Part of that has to do with the insane sense of speed. It's very easy at least for me to lose control by barely nudging the stick right or left.

Cop chases are fun, however they do give up all too quickly.

Crashes are very eye popping, but not when you crash a dozen times over the course of a game or two.

Online play is quite fun. I ran with a group for a half a dozen races and they were all different. One of the guys I raced with said he had been playing the game for five hours and had not had the same even twice. However, some of the events are kinda meh and I guess that's to be expected with how many there are. One in particular was on a roof top and the goal was to rack up near misses. There wasn't much space and I was happy when it was over.

Overall, it's a great rental, but I'd be shelving it within a week or two. Online play is the saving grace.

p.s. With my 10 year old son now in to gaming, my gaming time has become more limited. I will say though I was more impressed with WWE '13 than NFS Most Wanted.

I am the opposite....online play is just a mess. No matchmaking is a braindead decision.

Really? From reading lots of reviews, they are saying the multiplayer is what makes this a great game. The guy on Giantbomb said in the end, he'll play Most wanted will last longer than Forza because of the great multiplayer set-up. He did say that forza's single player is better though. I'll have to get forza in the next few weeks to see for myself.

I don't see how that can be the case.

You think these games would follow the suit of the Top 5 played games on Live.

There is little structure online in Most Wanted and zero customization.

Imagine if you were a Halo or Call of Duty player and you could only play your favorite mode when it was arbitrarily decided for you.

After putting in 3 hours or so today..I am going to trade it in tomorrow.

It is the equivalent of a girl you think is a hard 10 but when she smiles, she exposes her gnarly grill.

The online is just complete garbage and a lazy effort.

They did it right in the earlier Burnout games but it just isn't here.

I just downloaded the full game one hour trial on the PS3. I'll be playing it when I get home from work this afternoon. Looking forward to see how it stacks up against Horizon.

Game is fantastic; gorgeous, fast, and ridiculous fun.

I'm not exactly sure what some if you were expecting out of the multiplayer as it was clearly explained pre-release and then again in almost EVERY review. It's a free roam mode where you can to do whatever you want until a race pops up. At that point you race to the race, winner gets extra XP, then you race. It's by no means "lazy" or "tacked on" just because it's different. Every review for this game has been an 8 or 9/10 so far (which mine would be as well) and much of that praise is for the multiplayer. Not every game has to be Call of Duty

And lol at breaking a controller in the first hour. It's a video game... learn some self control.
