What is the 'spread' defensive scheme?

I'm a coach in online CCM, and my defensive scheme is set as spread. It seems like no players have spread set as their scheme, so basically no players fit my scheme effectively. Can it be changed? Are their players for this scheme and I'm just not seeing them?

I've never heard of a Spread defensive set...might be a glitch.

its a bug. jw when they show your starting lineup do u have 4 dls 4 lbs and 4 cbs?? this happens in my vikings ccm.

No, they show me as have 3 dl, 4 lb

Mine says the same "spread defense"
Then at opening line ups they show me having a 3-4 defense...
Now heres the funny thing when I started my online CCM, I picked a 4-3 defense.. Go figure...

It a bug! When you create a coach within CCM they are listed as if they use spread as their default scheme - as if there was such a thing!?

Yep, I see the same thing for everyone in my online CC (all 7 users). Offense: West Coast. Defense: Spread. It won't change.

For a while I saw the 4 DL/4 LB thing, but I though that's because I used the Hybrid Defense playbook, so I could be 3-4/4-3 (I run the 5-2 actually).

It's annoying that I don't get the chance to ever impact what my schemes are because they are stuck at WC/Spread.

Can you change your Scheme?

I know you can change the Type of Players your looking for (ie - big arm / west coast QB) but I'm not seeing anywhere to change my coaches "Scheme"

You're scheme is suppose to change automatically when you have enough players for that scheme.

I don't like it.

To the OP, this is definitely a bug. When you create a coach, the actual scheme you get is the one that the team you chose already ran....IE Cowboys are balanced O and 3-4 attacking D. Your team goals will be based off the ACTUAL scheme, not the one shown. So it's only a UI error (EA is aware of it) it does not affect anything else.

I've also noticed the player intro bug, sometimes 3-4, 4-4....no clue whats up with that.

No, that's also how I understand it to work, and believe there were several threads about this after the game came out. The team scheme changes over time based on your players. It's weird, but it's how they did it.

Or that's just an internet rumor and coach schemes are broken, because it's not like everyone who made their coach picked those same 2 schemes.


Although the impact doesn't matter, you can change position schemes which is what does matter.

as far as I know, that is a rumor. it has never happened for me, maybe it does for everyone else, but im not getting a scheme change, as I have started going for far more 4-3 players in my 3-4 now that I have realized that player type(role) outweighs scheme

I have yet to see anyone say "this happened to me"....just people saying "I think this happens."
