HyperBaller/DC Roster Project: MyPlayer/Created A Legend Mode

***Update 6/17/12***
Note that this is not the final release.

New Changes:
-Universally lowered Vertical ratings for all players 6'3" and under to limit the high amount of rebounds these players would get.
-Small changes to Coach Profiles. Less zone and more double teams.
-Hex edited some teams' accessory colors thanks to the suggestions from this thread.
-Fixed Rookie Challenge crowd and arena.

Good Morning OS,

Recently I attempted to use the HyperDC roster set with MyPlayer Mode and I discovered a flaw in the current system. Since MyPlayer starts his career rated in the 60s he immediately would be one of the highest rated players on any team he would be drafted to. That would definitely take away from the experience of building up your character.

We decided that it would be best if we changed the initial ratings/abilities of each MyPlayer template to ensure a challenging experience.

So DC and I went through each Player Type and changed the starting point for each rating/ability. This will distinguish between the different player types. So as the game ships, the defensive SF will have a different skill set than the 3PT SF.

Also included are Player Type specific animation packages. A Defensive SG will have a different ball-handling package than a Slashing SG. Again, we are looking to provide unique experiences for each type of MyPlayer. An athletic PG will have a different default dunk/layup package than a Pass-First PG.

Also, we included a few house rules that should be applied to any MyPlayer career which uses our roster set. I know it is natural for all of us to try to progress as quickly as possible but this version of MyPlayer is more centered around paying your dues, realism, and the overall struggle of a young NBA player. Even though we feel that MyPlayer gets undeserved playing time from the start of his career we really can't control that. What we can control is the rate of progress if you decide to use the House Rules.

We hope you enjoy the roster with MyPlayer Mode.

Here are the Default Overall Ratings, Attributes, Abilities and House Rules.
Please note that all abilities are 0 for the sake of competitive balance. You might ask, "Why does a Defensive C have the same Dribbling skills as a Pass-First PG." Well they wouldn't have the same Dribbling skills because they don't have the same Off-Hand Dribbling, Ball Security, or Dribble Animation Packages. So there will still be some differential present.

This will be something that the user has to work toward much like every other thing in life. I know it is harsh but again, we want a challenging experience.

My Player House Rules:

1. One Development Drill Per Month. We are trying to prevent accelerated development so abusing the developmental system will not provide a realistic experience.

2. Play Sim. Many people accelerate so quickly because they don't play in the means of their MyPlayer. Remember that you are an unproven Rookie. Know your Role.

3. Do not request a trade until after your rookie season. Again, you are not important so please know your role.

4. Athletic Ratings should not be altered for any reason. Speed, quickness, vertical. Those are set in stone for compatibility purposes.

4. Do not edit Hustle Rating. This is the cause for defensive FB speed. For gameplay purposes, keep this along the same scale as every other NBA player.

6. In Create A Legend, unless you are a starter or 6th man, do not demand a trade until year 2. Let the dust settle, a spot might open up.

7. Do not edit Potential Rating. We know that 2K has a problem with speedy progression and this rating is the culprit. Do not touch.

8. The Off Ball Defense rating should not be touched. We have a scale in place (25, 55, 85) for the entire NBA. Only defensive perimeter players will have high marks here.

9. Do not edit dunk or standing dunk ratings. Over-dunking is a big reason why many users are able to dominate these modes. The days of automatic dunking are over

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

I tried using the original roster with MP mode and ran into this issue.

Your roster project is amazing to play with and I am literally going to stop everything I was doing to jump into this right now.

Re: HyperBaller/DC Roster Project: MyPlayer/Created A Legend Mode

You see, I'm a player that HATED My Player mode because of how easy it was to progress. I remember my first time trying the mode I had a slashing SG, I think I quit developing him at a 68 OVR, but he was already averaging well over 40 PPG for Charlotte lmao. So I tried a couple more times to a similar result and gave up on the mode.

But this... this is going to make me jump right back in. I love the idea of making it so that you will have to work up to be at least a competitive player in the league! Downloaded and trying it now! Great work and effort HB/DC, you truly are legends of this game!

this sounds interesting but does it help make your teammates actually play like nba players?

What are all of the colors in the last tab of the spreadsheet?

Also, will it take me a while to level up? I see all of your house rules set in placer.

I updated the OP with the house rules. I also added a color key to the spreadsheet to explain what they mean.

This is based off of our roster set. So you will see players running their offenses as if it was a regular NBA game. If your MY Player has an offensive mindset, you will be involved in the offense.

Do not expect to take over in your first few seasons. Follow the house rules and slowly develop your player. I got drafted to the Knicks and I am only averaging 3-4 ppg as a Rookie slashing SG. Melo, Amare, and Lin control most of the offense.
