I've been playing some MVP 05 lately and I'm not really sure I've come across a retractable roof.

I am tempted to say maybe MLB 2k7 had an idea of one, but all it that happened is it would rain in the early innings and then stopped and we were to assume it was a roof closing. I could be completely wrong.

most likely in the PS4, the devs did state last year that they are limited on options due to Ram and Memory usage, same thing goes for individual uniforms at the All-Star game, so wait till the PS4 (2 years I think)

I'd like to at least have a closed and opened option for the retractable roof stadiums.

I don't actually need to see the roof closing. I just want to be able to pick at the start of the game, open or closed.

Yeah. Part of the reason a whole lot hasn't been added over the past couple of years is because the ram and memory are pretty much maxed out on the PS3. That's why we don't have things like individual uniforms at the All-Star game or in edit player.

I don't see why they couldn't program in a 2nd "stadium" with a closed roof, no need for animations, especially since the game contains roughly 50+ stadiums in it anyway. Just program which stadium will be used depending on time of day or with the randomized weather. In terms for Arizona, use the roof exclusively after May unless the game begins at night.

But I'm no game developer, so who knows outside of SCEA.

I also don't need to see it close but an option would be good. I do however get that there is a memory issue.

What I don't get is why they made the marlins stadium open when miami stated they would probably only have it open for 10-15 games? I suppose they didn't have that info when drawing it but even then an educated guess would tell you it would be closed more than open.

I don't know what the other retractable roof stadiums are like but I would guess they were probably closed more than open?

Yep. Houston, Arizona and Miami because of heat and Milwaukee and Toronto because of chances for bad weather. That's the only 5 retractable roof baseball stadiums right?

Jays roof is closed all of April(due to temperature) and May-September is only closed if it's raining, or looks like it's raining(or if its really cold, but its spring/summer,its not cold)

They should have 2 diff stadiums, one for open roof, and one for closed roof. Like how EA had it for NFL,you couldn't have retractable roofs, but you could play the whole game with the roof open, or closed.

I know it's rare for the Jays to retract the roof in the middle of the game. I think it happens maybe a few times a year and that's it.

It looks real strange seeing 40 degree temperatures in Toronto with the roof open and guys getting cold/wearing sleeves.

Seriously, I actually think Safeco looks really cool with the roof over it. Creates a baseball cavern.

Sorry I forgot about SAFECO. SAFECO is a great looking stadium! I love playing games there.

However, I think one of the developers mentioned in order to implement this, they would need to completely recreate and program the stadium

I'm pretty sure that they also said this was the reason we couldn't have games that start at 1 PM and then transition into full on night games if they go into long extra innings. I'm really looking forward to what the San Diego Studios guys can do when they get a hold of the PS4.

I'm not looking forward to shelling out the absurd amount of money the system is going to cost though.

Not sure what impact this may have on stadiums but for the individual All-Star uniforms, you must remember the Nippon Baseball League only has 12 teams while MLB has 30. That's less than half of the uniforms Pro Yakyuu has to load and therefore less than half the RAM needed for uniforms in the ASG. That's a BIG difference in terms of graphics and animations.

Again, not sure if this impacts the stadium issue, but it may have something to do with it. As some have mentioned it isn't as simple as swapping a few layers of a graphic, they have to build a new stadium from scratch to show it with a roof.
