Why Don't We See More Authentic Billboards in Baseball Video Games?

Just wondering if anyone knows why we don't see more authentic advertising in baseball games? Not necessarily every billboard in every little nook of 30 ball parks, but at least some of the prominent ones like the Citgo sign beyond the Green Monster.

I understand you have to get the rights from the advertiser, but I can't imagine a situation where the advertiser would say "No". It's basically a free bonus for the advertising they already paid for in real life.

Do the advertisers want royalties for use of their logo? Or do the video game publisher's want advertising fees? Seems like a pretty even swap for me.....advertiser gets free space, and the video game becomes more authentic.

    Just curious??

Yeah, but which way? The video game publisher? Or the advertisers?

MLB 2k12 would be better off if it stuck to the sponsorships and mlb licensing it had rather than "trying" to design their own sponsors as they have this year. Some stadiums look so unrealistic

Dont know why. I would imagine sponsorship rights is similar to here in Japan and pro yakyuu has the real billboards. Perhaps MLB wants more $$$$ from sponsors to showcase it.

I believe that, at least in the Show, the MLBPA and MLB want a slice of the pie if they sell rights to billboards. I could also imagine cases where companies don't want their image in a video game because they can't control what it looks like, and I can imagine some companies wanting to charge for their image being in the game.

That's something I've never got about most companies that advertise in sports.

Why wouldn't you want your companies logo in the game? Instead of paying ____ for 82(or 162 for mlb) games a year, you just pay a one time thing and your ad will be seen by millions of people every single time they play the game.

Then you can make your company known for being in the game. If some random company called "1"(cant think of good name lol) started advertising in the game, but you barely knew about them before, then after awhile, you'll start to know alot about that company. So when you see their commercial on tv or something, you'll already know them.

It'll almost be lime subliminal messaging lol
