Is 2k13 a make or break year for them as NBA basketball video game. I'm not going to lie I'm new to the 2k family...as an avid live player I was strictly EA when it game to video game titles...then on my birthday my wife got me nba2k only bc it had MJ and she knew he is my fave player. Experiencing 2k gameplay and what it brought to the table compared to EA TITLES I was blown away. Graphics, gameplay, animations. 2k had my money for future titles...until...nba2k12 released. The bugs it had for online. Taking away sliders for online assoc. and being a EA fanboy, I wish that EA made a title but 2k is where my heart is for the sim experience. I honestly think they have lost a good amount of customers based on their lack of customer interaction, promises unfulfilled, ect. So OS family is this next 2k release a make or break year for them customer wise??? Easpcially with EA releasing a game more than likely in the next year

Re: Honest question...
2k dropped the ball this year, imo. Promised us things that most likely aren't going to happen..etc..
However, knowing 2k, it's only going to make them stronger. Trust me when i say this, i believe 2k13 will be a great game. Especially with good competition.
Not saying that can't produce a good game without competition, but i believe it will make them focus a bit more when making the game.
Also, the lockout stuff took a tole on 2k12. -

Also the nba2k.com the OA tab. Coming soon been up there since release that's another thing that should have even ready. But I also understand that this is the first year of OA. So you can only get better. Things will get better and like you said competition will push them a little moreComment

I don't think it's a make or break year because 2K has such a stranglehold on market share thanks to EA dropping out of the sim race for the time being.
However, the tide has definitely turned against 2K this year...I remember everyone gushing about 2K11 last year on these forums...and now over 3/4 of the threads are complaints. And the sad thing is, these complaints are warranted due to 2k's mysterious disappearance. This company made such a conscious effort to listen to our feedback and input for the game..and then they release 2k12 and are nowhere to be found. I imagine they'll update the roster here soon...but there have been many promises left unfulfilled.
2K will continue to appeal to many fans, and will be just fine next year considering there won't be a lockout affecting sales. For more serious fans (like this community) another year of bad communication would greatly alienate 2Ks core fanbase...not a good idea.Comment

Re: Honest question...
EA having a game or not, I don't believe that had anything to do with it. The problem i have with 2K12 bashers is you cannot state 2K is lazy when they changed so many things from 2K11. Granted some of them seem worse but the lazy thing to do is change little and ship it out. 2K in my opinion made some gameplay decisions that gamers just didn't like. The patch eased some of these. I imagine 2K13 will play more like a mix of 2K11 and 2K12 with more emphasis on 2k11.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Re: Honest question...
The problem is that in 2k11, 2k had what many believe to be the greatest sports game (or at least, greatest basketball game) of all time.
They felt the pressure of having to try and top that, and therefore they tried to do too much with 2k12 and got a little over-ambitious.
I think next year they will learn from that mistake. They won't try to change too much, instead focusing on the mistakes they made with this year and ways to fix those.
Basically, next years game will be what this years game SHOULD have been. An improvement, but not a "revolution". 2k11 was their revolution, so IMO they don't need to have another one so quickly afterward.Comment

Re: Honest question...
2K tends to have this cycle every 2 years coincidentally. For example, 2K9 was good, 2K10 wasn't as great as 2k9, then 2K11 was better than 2K10, and now 2K12 isn't as great as 2K11. Now 2K13 will definitely be better than 2K12 ...
Here is why 2K13 will be better than 2K12:
- Competition with EA (who are most likely working on a the Elite series for 2013).
- No lockout drama issues (which resulted in 2K focusing the game more on past legends than active players).
- The amount of negative feedback/reviews that 2K have been receiving, particularly on this site.
- And of course the 2 year cycle

"Private Associations allow for a greater sense of league customization and, essentially, allow the commissioner to control just about anything that happens within the league"
Where are those customization options? Were they talking about the amazing options that we have right now? (kick and promote users and NOTHING else)
Where are the roster and art updates? What about all the game modes / options they removed from the game without telling us?
I honestly don't know how can people defend 2k after what they are doing this year, and even call the people who have the right to complain "2k bashers"...Last edited by Norris_Cole; 01-20-2012, 03:59 AM.Comment

Re: Honest question...
2k bashers? We just want simple things 2k promised, like the full roster, the OA website, or those admin options for the OA . Also the lack of communication is getting people even angrier, I suggest you to re-read the Online association insight for example and read the part that says:
"Private Associations allow for a greater sense of league customization and, essentially, allow the commissioner to control just about anything that happens within the league"
Where are those customization options? Were they talking about the amazing options that we have right now? (kick and promote users and NOTHING else)
