Nuggets 2012 2nd round draft pick

Denver, CO -- The league approved a deal involving the Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets yesterday evening involving five players and a Nuggets 2nd round draft pick in 2012. The Nuggets received third year power-forward Tyler Hansbrough and point-guard A.J. Price while sending power-forward Al Harrington and centers Timofey Mozgov and Kosta Koufos to the Pacers. "We're going to miss Al [Harrington], but we wanted to get a bit younger in the frontcourt and get a more traditional power-forward. We're excited about Tyler [Hansbrough]. He's a high energy player that does the little things every team needs. He's hard nosed and aggressive and we feel like he'll give us some much-needed toughness in the frontcourt." Said Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri.

After a shortened rookie season Hansbrough enjoyed a very solid second year in which he averaged 11.0 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game in just 21.9 minutes per game. "We feel Tyler can be a 15/8 type player with increased minutes. He was filling the sixth man role in Indiana but we think he can be a major contributor for us as a starter." Said Nuggets head-coach George Karl. Hansbrough really came along late last season and played very well in the Pacers 1st round playoff series as an eight seed against the Chicago Bulls.

Denver uses fourth quarter surge to win 110-101

Tyler Hansbrough was spectacular in his Nuggets debut scoring 20 points and grabbing five rebounds

Up, up, and away! T-Wolves rookie Derrick Williams throws down a vicious dunk.
Denver, CO -- Trailing 89-88 with 5:06 to play, Denver made their move. A Ty Lawson lay-up, two Aaron Afflalo free-throws, and five straight points from Tyler Hansbrough and the Nuggets took-off on an 11-0 run to lead 97-89 with 4:20 to play.

Ty Lawson scored 17 of his 22 in the second half sparking a Nuggets comeback in which they trailed by as much as 11 two different times in the final two quarters. Lawson added 12 assists and five rebounds to go with his 22 points.

Tyler Hansbrough had a spectacular Nuggets debut, scoring 20 points on 7/9 shooting and grabbing five rebounds. Shooting-guard Aaron Afflalo had a near double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing eight boards. Denver got help from the bench, too, as Andre Miller chipped in with 10 points and three assists, while rookie Jordan Hamilton added eight points and four rebounds.

Michael Beasley 25 points and six rebounds in the loss while Kevin Love added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

                    Like it's 2009 Again
Lawson, Hansbrough lead Nuggets to victory

Denver, CO -- In 2009 Ty Lawson and Tyler Hansbrough lead the University of North Carolina to a national championship. Yesterday against the Jazz, it was like Lawson and Hansbrough were back in Chapel Hill, donning their Carolina blue uniforms, and the basketball court was their playground. Hansbrough scored eight of Denver's last 10 points to ensure a Nuggets 103-101 victory; Ty Lawson assisted on three of the four baskets.

Hansbrough followed up his 20 point Nuggets debut with a 22 points nine rebound performance. Lawson led all scorers with 29 points and also had nine assists and six rebounds. All five Nuggets starters scored in double figures and Andre Miller added nine points off the bench.

The frontcourt duo of Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap led the charge for the Jazz. Millsap had 20 points and 13 rebounds while Jefferson had 18 points and eight boards. Six Jazz players scored in double figures but it wasn't enough, despite Utah outscoring Denver 27-18 in the fourth quarter.

Denver bench scores 45 points in 116-98 victory

                          Denver, CO (AP) --
Leading 89-79 after three quarters Denver was in good position to improve to 7-0 by beat the Bulls. What they did to start the fourth quarter was surprising, even to their coach and their fans. "We had our entire second unit on the floor to start the third. Danilo was out with the back injury, Nene was in foul trouble, and Ty, Aaron, and Tyler were gassed. We needed the second unit to carry us through about the first four or five minutes of the fourth quarter." Said Nuggets head-coach George Karl. And that they did. With most of the Bulls starters on the floor, Denver scored the first eight points of the quarter to extend their lead to 18. In fact, in the 4:48 the Nuggets second unit played in the fourth quarter they outscored the Bulls 10-2.

The Nuggets lead never got larger than 18 points, but that's all they needed as they outscored the Bulls 25-17 in the fourth quarter to in the game 116-98. The match-up featured perhaps the two deepest teams in the league but it was the Nuggets bench that stole the spotlight in this game. Denver's bench outscored Chicago's bench 45-28. Rudy Fernandez and Chris Andersen combined to score 23 points on 10/13 shooting.

Derrick Rose, saddled with foul trouble all game long, still managed to score 31 points, 13 of which came in the final quarter. Minus Joakim Noah, Chicago didn't manage to get much from their frontcourt as Carlos Boozer and Taj Gibson combined to score just 12 points and grab 15 rebounds.

"We knew how good their bench was. We knew, as deep as we are, they might be even deeper and it showed tonight. They got some big minutes from their reserves and it was the difference in the game. We lost by 18 and their bench outscored our bench by 17 points." -Tom Thibodeau, Chicago head-coach.
