HORNETS ILLUDE MAGIC IN SEASON OPENER
The New Orleans Hornets put in a convincing performance in the opening game at the New Orleans Arena winning 109-94, spearheaded by offensive performances from Aminu (28 pts.) and Paul (24 pts.)
Newly appointed GM Dell Demps had this to say on the win:
"We coped very well" - referring to his side's defense, "We knew that Dwight (Howard) would be a threat in the paint so we needed to be tight to him but at the same time you've got Hedo (Turkgolu) who is rthless from beyond the arc so they are a very tough team to defend against. But we did the job well and produced enough on offense to take the game."
On the 28-point debut of Al-Farouq Aminu:
"He was clinical. He is the ruthless oppurtunity taker that we needed and he is hopefully the missing piece in the jigsaw. [Aminu is] Impressive in the paint and a great technical side, he is the perfect match for the team"
On the upcoming game against the Lakers at the New Orleans Arena:
"It will be tough. They are a great team with all 5 players on the court being a threat. We will train and prepare and come out as ready as ever"
