Week 12: Green Bay Packers (10-0) @ Detroit Lions (7-3)

A great Thanksgiving matchup that we've been looking forward to for awhile.

AccuScore Projection: GB 34, DET 25

Edit: forgot to put the Lions record in there. If a mod could add it, that'd be great.

This should be the Packers 1st loss of the season. The Lions have been waiting for this game for a long time.

The key for the Packers is protection for Rodgers and the Packers defense against the Lions pass offense.

That is where the game will be won or lost.

If the offense does their dumb Mental Midget start as it seems every game then this is going to get out of hand early, despite the Defense being one of the best in the league (statistically anyway).

The Pack does have pass protection issues it seems so hopefully we can keep the pressure on and hit CM Pun....Aaron Rodgers.

After watching LeGarrette Blount run yesterday, we may be able to run with Kevin Smith. You are also correct that if we start slow again, the Pack will put the bootstraps to us and it'll be over before the turkey is in the oven.

The Lions will have to look... to last year's game between the Pack and Lions, before Rodgers was injured. In that quarter and a half there might be the answer to muddling the Green Bay offense. The offense can look to any number of games of how to score points. They key is not turning it over, not taking dumb penalties when we should be off the field and no more special team gaffes; Cobb is a speedster and we can't allow another TD, not when they can score at will with Rodgers anyway.

If we can be tied at half time with Rodgers throwing a ton of passes and our Dline wearing down their OL, I think we can pull it off. It won't be easy, and we'll have to have a heck of a gameplan and team effort, but I think we can win. And if we lose, at least we still have 7 wins. 7-4 v 6-5 is huge with our remaining schedule.

O-Line is definitely going to have to bring it's A game for this one and the Defense is going to have to perform alot better than it did yesterday, especially in the Tackling Department, which was part of the problem yesterday. Luckily, they don't have a LeGarrette Blount type back on their roster so I'm not too concerned about Kevin Smith having his way with our D like Blount did.

Wouldn't expect to see Starks out there so it'll probably be Grant/Kuhn splitting the carries.

The Packers need to play better than last week if they want to win this week. I think they will win because they know how to win games and play good when they need to, and they will need to do it this week. If the Packers make some mistakes then the Lions will make them pay.

I'm excited for this game. Short week of preparation for both teams here, so this one might boil down to who has the ability to make the big plays and which Lions team shows up. If the Lions of the first few weeks and last week shows up, we've got us a shootout. If the Lions of the last few weeks shows up the Packers should probably win this one in a waltz.

I expect a shootout. Last team with the ball wins.

Protection is Key. If Rodgers has time, He'll have a field day.

Run Defense. I thought it's been pretty decent until last week. Kevin Jones had a nice game vs CAR but we are not them. So I expect Packers to force them to be one Dimensional.

                    Prediction. 34-27 Packers.

These ain't the 0-10 Lions of a few years back with Kitna at QB......

GB's pass defense is still suspect, and with Johnson and the other WR's Detroit has, GB could face their first REAL challenge at staying perfect.

Could be a shootout reminiscent of Cards vs Pack in the playoffs 2 yrs ago......

I dunno, thank goodness I'm not a gambler. I'm gonna say......

                      GB-38, DET-31.

At least Detroit's relevent again on Turkey Day......

Should be a good game, looking forward to it. I'm not sure which mancrush I have is bigger, Aaron Rodgers or Ndamukong Suh.

I anticipate a high scoring game with Aaron scoring the game winning TD late so Skip can finally quiet down bout his whole 4th quarter thing.

                            I'm saying 13-7 Lions.

Tied 7-7 in the 4th, Stafford leads a drive down the field eventually scoring on a toss to Calvin Johnson with around 2 minutes left. Lions try going for 2 to make life harder on the Packers, but fail as Kevin Smith is stuffed at the line. Rodgers gets the ball back with just under 2 remaining and drives down the field quickly only to have James Jones drop a sure-fire TD in the endzone as time expires.

Ok, maybe not, but I don't think the Packers win this. Maybe if we slow down Megatron enough though.

Hell of a detailed pick there.

I almost thought it actually happened already!

I heard or read somewhere that the last time GB was 10-0 they went into this game and lost to DET. Finished up perfect the rest of the way and won the NFL Championship (I believe it was before the Super Bowl).

I can see the same storyline in this game, and in this year.

I like Detroit to win. Regardless, going to be an amazing early game on Thanksgiving for the first time in a LONGGGGG time.
