Unnecessary Roughness!

I'm playing a game RIGHT NOW in my Franchise, Dolphins (me) vs. Jets (CPU). A throw a pass to my TE on an out route, he catches it, turns upfield, and his foot taps the out of bounds line. Right after this foot tap, Darelle Revis comes over and makes the tackle. BUT there's a flag on the play, unnecessary roughness on Darelle Revis!

This is the first time I've EVER seen an unnecessary roughness call in any football game. Has this happened to anyone else?

Still find it funny how these penalties are in yet pass interference a more common penalty called IRL is virtually no where to be found, again!

wow, its just nice to know that a call like this is actually in the game, although i have never seen it. i only get holding, false start, and clipping. and thats it. i've gotten pass interference called only once this year, although it happens a lot on the game when the LB or saftey runs into the WR, just never called.

Crazy. I've had plenty of plays where there SHOULD have been a late hit called for a hit on a player clearly out of bounds. Never seen one called.

Should be called way more often. I can rarely go out of bounds without getting blasted by late hits.

i have never ever seen this on any madden....nor is it listed in the penalty sliders.


Roughing the passer/kicker...but i've seen people get hit 5 yards out of bounds after a play and its never been called.

I have never had pass interference or a personal foul of any sort called on me

I wouldn't mind clipping not be called at all, since it's so rare IRL, and when players in-game do it, it's usually not even near the play. Also, the holding animations are awful and at awkward times. I just hope they can implement penalties at realistic times with realistic animations. Late-Hits is such an easy one to implement!

It happened last year as well... and also on ps1 madden.

this has been in madden for a while. its only called when you hit stick who is clearly going out of bounds. a regular tackle won't trigger a penalty

This was a hit by the CPU, and it was nowhere near a hit stick. Fasano turned to run upfield, but his momentum took him out of bounds, and right after his foot tapped the OB line, Revis came and tried to tackle him. Funny thing is, I got a "broken tackle" animation, so it wasn't even a tackle that triggered the penalty, just the fact that Revis attempted one!

And as to everyone complaining about the lack of PI/Illegal Contact calls, EA doesn't put these in (unless you tackle a player before the ball gets to him) because they don't have ANY WR/DB interaction animations (which is incredibly sad and pathetic), they don't have any PI animations, and they don't have any illegal-contact animations. Animations trigger penalties, and since none of these animations are present (except for tackling a WR), there are no penalties.

I have actually had a few pass interference calls on me, but never the CPU. However, I have never seen an unnecessary roughness penalty called ever.

The Madden devs have clipping and block in the back penalty mixed up. You would think that an official NFL game and such an established title as Madden would AT LEAST have the penalties implemented correctly.
