Cris was great tonight, really enjoyed the commentary and color analysis he provided. EA needs to learn how to utilize Cris and Gus, they are both two of the best at their respective jobs. Gus at play by play and Cris as a color guy.

He was good, but I also saw that he makes mistakes. He somehow thought Darren Sproles was Mark Ingram on one play. I wish we could get Al Michaels and Collinsworth in the game. Or maybe Mike Mayock?

Every commentator makes mistakes like that.

And thats not even a bad one.

Collinsworth is a bit pompous, but he gets more hate on here than he desreves. He is one of the better color commentators. The NFL has more bad color guys than good ones.

Like Ive said 1000 times....the actual commentators are the least thats wrong with Madden's commentating.

I could care less who they get for commentary as long as they DO IT RIGHT and not have the same crappy lines such as This guy is known as an eratic passer and it looks like he is just aiming the ball

One of my favorite moments was when he was talking about Randall Cobb doing a "barrel roll" and then landing back on the field to run it in for the Touchdown.

Just think if commentary was like this

Gus-Cobb fields the kick in the endzone brings it out, at the 10, the 20,and taken down at the 22, wait Cobb is still running, Cobb at the 30, Cobb at Midfield and there he goes, he's going all the way in for the Touchdown. Touchdown Randall Cobb he takes it all the way and this kid is writing history in his very first nfl game Cris.

Cris-Yeah Gus what a way for this guy to start off an nfl career, he caught a pass for a TD earlier and that kick return just now was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.

I don't understand the love for Al Michaels? I think he's horrible! Gus imo is the best play by play guy in sports today! I'm not a fan of Chris either but I can tolerate him.

I actually enjoy the commentators so much because not every play is a big play, and in real life they just cruise control on any given topic through those plays. In madden, the commentators are just quiet during the play and never really talk about the set-up.

If they were to talk about the play-action being successful on a given play because of the strong running earlier in the game. Or draw plays.

Side note: Green Bay showed that a 3-man rush can still generate great pressure with great coverage

Collinsworth, Madden, Michaels, Summerall, etc... they've had great vocal talent in the game. Unfortunately they've (Tiburon) never risen to delivering on their end, in any year

I sure hope Madden 13 is that year. Hopefully with the new commentary engine next year it will happen.

Exactly... It's not who they're using, but rather how they're using them... They need to rework the engine, the way lines are delivered/recorded and how they branch off into one another...

Gus is terribly overrated, but as someone else said, I couldn't care less about the commentary team as long as they utilize a better commentary engine. I'm tired of them sounding like they're not even in the same building, let alone booth.

I really think this is what made "that game" different. "Peter O'Keefe" and "Dan Stevens" would go back and forth with each other, really made the commentary realistic. They were voice actors so that may have made a difference. They should totally use Gus and Boom goes the dynamite guy. LOL I was just thinking about that episode of Tosh.0

It's funny too, because IRL Chris is the commentator who points out what the average viewer misses: defensive and offensive lines in the trenches for example. Then when you turn on Madden, he says the most obvious things that everyone knows. His announcing approach is the exact opposite IRL than it is in Madden. It would be cool to see in Madden, Chris tell Gus that the the QB was getting pressure, because the RB missed the read, and then show a replay of it.
