Week 1: Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars

It's football season! Not some bull**** preseason games, too... we've got real life regular season football!

The Jaguars didn't look so great in the preseason. So there's that. How will CJ28 deal with just now coming to camp?

I think the Jaguars D will show how good they now are, and CJ will not be accustomed to the Jacksonville heat, and somehow, the Jaguars will win.

That's probably too many points. I don't know if the Jags OL will be good enough to create holes or to protect Garrard. Garrard is the same, so don't look for much and if he is getting pressured, then the offense won't move the ball. I think the defense will be a lot better.

I'll be amazed if CJ can make it through the game.

    Probably low teens, 13-7 Jags.

I like the Jags in this match up. Titans have a new coaching staff, new QB, lots of new players on defense, and CJ has missed the entire preseason.

      Titans 13
      Jaguars 19

Should be a close game, hope the Titans when, but probably won't. Pick 6 for the Jags to win it.

        17-6

Man I havent even see a highlight of the Jags this preseason so I have no idea what to expect out of those guys. The general media consensus is that they are better than the Titans. Id say it can go either way, but my always homer-ific pick is the Titans 20-10

I'm taking a 13-all tie, given that the Jags just let Garrard go.

McCown is a better QB. If he has time, he can throw the ball deep and connect with the WRs. Garrard was never able to be a pocket passer. He also has soured his relationship with the players, threw them under the bus a lot in interviews, and wasn't voted a captain which he may have said something today about it.

Del Rio is an idiot though. McCown didn't play much in the preseason and should have gotten more reps in games if this was going to happen.

Agreed on that. Why did they ditch him at the last second, and not earlier so he had a chance to get with another team? Why wait so late to make this decision is what I don't understand. Didn't see any Jag pre-season games but, it's going to be really interesting to see how it plays out. As for the game, I'll take the Jags in this one depending on how much better their defense is.

I don't think cutting Garrard was the right move, but i'm still confident that the Jags will smash the Titans in the opener.

                    Jags: 27
                    Titans: 17

Wow, with Garrard out, I can actually see the Titans pulling it out. Changing prediction to:

                      Titans 13
                      Jaguars 10

Garrard lost his drive, you could see in the Rams game, and he has been throwing his teammates under the bus for awhile now.

Luke has the team support, and puts in the effort. This might have happened last year had he not been injured.

This game suddenly got a lot more interesting. Before yesterday I was firmly with the Jags, now I'll take the Titans. Johnson's back in the fold and with Hasselbeck a steadying force, he should be able to give them just enough. I watched a fair amount of the Titans in preseason. I like what new DC Jerry Gray is bringing to the defense with bigger, more stout defenders to stack up against the run.

The only chink I see there is they didn't impress me with pressuring the passer from the front 4. Gray, a Gregg Williams disciple, has some nice pressure packages, but the defensive line wasn't the same get off at the snap and rush the qb with abandon, that they have been. It might not matter in this game though, but it's something to watch.
"A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."
