Cover 4 Zone is the best defense for it -- but at one point it was the only way the CPU could score on me.

But yes, anything with go routes is really easy to execute if the DB loses the battle at the line of scrimmage. Four verts means four times the chances for one of your WRs to break free.

4 Verts in real life is hard to defend if you run a coverage exactly like it is drawn up and not making adjustments (i.e. cover 2, corner gets no flat route so sinks with the vert, cover 4 against 3x1 backside safety eyeing the #3 across to see if he runs vertical) Problem is the game does not make these adjustments and runs coverages exactly how they are drawn. A lot of people play cover 3 a lot, which is what 4 verts is best against, your best bet is to play cover 4 like the post earlier said and I would control the safety to take away the bender in the middle of the field against 3x1.

The deep crossing route is the one that is pretty much a money play; there is a play action with the tight end where its the same way.

Only way to beat it is to user and anticipate.

If you're online, straight Cover 2 Man and manually cover the slot crosser with either the MLB assigned to the HB or the FS on the solo side of the formation. If you're not afraid of the guy checking to a run at all, go Quarters Cover 2 with the MLB spy. Manually use the MLB to stay underneath the crosser and he is done. If scrambling is a threat, have the line contain.

As for offline, you just have to diagnose it early and hope it's covered or get pressure.

There are a few similar Hail Mary style plays that make the inside receiver a high percentage completion for you, pretty close to 'money plays', certainly the ones you go to in a moment of need. And a side benefit if you have a fast mobile QB is the CPU D often drops everyone into coverage against those plays, leaving tons of room for QB romps.

I look at those plays as balancing the user's odds a bit against the psychic DB's and super LB'ers.

This guy knows his football!!!! Yea that 4 verts play is a zone buster play especially out of a trips look just destroys pretty much all zones if you don't adjust like said above.

easiest play to shut down imo. I always assume my opponent is running verts (which they usually are) so I just shut it down. When my opponent starts reading the D and throwing underneath, then I start to have problems.

Run 3-3-5 cover 2 man and have it in your audibles:
