Is anybody else having troubles with pitching the ball with option teams? I usually run a dynasty with Army and the option pitch this year is broken. Bad. If there is a defender NEAR your QB he won't pitch the ball. If you pitch the ball earlier to prevent this, the RB/FB stops running and watches the pitch. It is sad, I really liked the option every year of this game, but this is so annoying I have to change my play type.

If anything, its unrealistic when the defense picks the RB, b/c if you can hold the ball long enough, the pitch defender gets beat and the rest of the defense crashes, and you just get huge gains all day.
With my GT dynasty I've been top 10 rushing every year using mostly option plays for my ground game.Comment

Re: Triple Option is useless
You have to make your decision quicker this year than in the past. Before you could pretty much pitch as you were getting tackled, now you need to pitch once you see the defender commit to the QB.Comment

I tried running an option offense, and two thirds of my QBs got injured in the first game and I quit that Dynasty.Comment

I created the Coast Guard Academy and use them as an option team and haven't had any problems. I feel it's pretty realistic.

Re: Triple Option is useless
Blockers in this game just aren't smart. I wish there was a way that I could call out blitzes and have my line change their assignments for them. There are just too many times where they let a blitzer free into the backfield when they could have easily adjusted and stopped it.Comment

Re: Triple Option is useless
This doesn't necessarily relate to the option but more of the running game in general.... I can't not tell you the amount of times where at least 2-3 olineman just totally whiff and not touch a single dlinemanComment

Playing Navy @ SMU now. Post-patch, default rosters. Adjusted sliders, slightly more difficult. AA, 7 min quarters. Will post stats soon.Last edited by BaylorBearBryant; 07-27-2011, 03:28 AM.Comment

Re: Triple Option is useless
I find that the triple option is terrible against good AQ teams. It works well against the more terrible teams which makes sense to me.
And now you have to be smarter about the pitch than ever before. No more cheesey plays.Comment

I'll say that pitching out of the triple option is difficult this year. You really have to be careful when you pitch. FB runs are money this year. That seems to be a lot easier. WB sweeps and misdirections were also effective. QB runs didn't really pay off until late. QB had 22 carriers for 50 yards, long of 7.
I found it frustrating when my OL would "whiff" as it had been mentioned before. But for the most part, it wasn't too bad. The worst part is the QB injuries. My starter was injured twice in the game. Longest he was out was about 6 plays, but I really don't know how you're going to make it through a whole season with just 3 QB's. If you plan on using a triple option playbook, you'll need to stockpile QB's.
Gamekiller? By no means. More difficult in '12? Yes. Perfect? No.Comment
