    Your job?

I am absolutely dumbfounded with where I want to go in my life. In July I will graduate with a Bachelor's in Political Science, as well as a Bachelor's in English. I have no idea what I want to do with those degrees, and it's depressing as hell. I'm going crazy over here, being unemployed and having no sense of direction as to what I want to do.

Maybe if people list what their job is I'll get some ideas.

Well, I don't think this'll help you much, but I'm a Software Engineer. I write teh codes, and I come up with teh solutions to teh problems.

But you'd probably need to get a BS in Comp Sci to be able to work as one now-a-days.

I think Beantown has an English degree as well, so maybe he can help out.

This won't help you at all but I'm a Navy Corpsman.

Thats kinda the reason I have my job, I had no idea what I wanted to do after high school and 5 years later still have no idea what I want to do.

BA in Computer Science here. I make awesome video games.

With regard to a political science degree, the thing you HAVE to do if you want a job in the government is beat down every door repeatedly, and I mean repeatedly. Volunteer to do work for campaigns, etc., and get as many connections as you can. As my brother knows (he was a major in political science, with a minor in economics), the degree in-and-of-itself doesn't open up many doors in that field.

Another thing you might want to investigate is law school, but you'll have to decide for yourself if that's the best option for you.

It is English as in writing, not the language.

Your degrees can get you in the door at almost any company, you are going to have to sell yourself though. You need to pick something that you think you would like doing. Then go and contact everyone. You might not be able to find something now or you may find out you don't like it, but you don't need to find your career right away.

I am a B.S. in meteorology at NC State, but that won't help you much.

My dad graduated with a B.A. in Political Science way back in 1982 (I think?). He was intending to use it to go to law school. Instead, he joined the West Virginia Air National Guard right after college as a C-130 pilot and ended up being hired by Piedmont Airlines in 1987 and is presently flying 757s and 767s for US airways out of Charlotte (mostly to the Carribean, Rio de Janerio, and Madrid), so he didn't exactly use his political science degree much (except that you had to have a four-year degree to being a military officer and becoming an airline pilot).

Like others mentioned your best bet is working for a local campaign.

Please don't take this the wrong way but why put all that money into degrees with no plan looking forward?

Having a degree, no matter what it is, gives you the chance to make 2x as much money as someone who doesn't have one. It also opens up a lot more job opportunities for you.

Yup. Besides who really knows what they want to do when they go to college. Just major in something you like. Chances are you won't even be in that Carrier field unless you want to be a lawyer, doctor, etc

I did a BA in Political Science also and, well, I'm in the same boat. No idea what or where I want to go with my life. Law School is not something I care about, I did Poli Sci because I wanted to learn about it.

I've applied to various places in various fields to no avail....so we'll see.

I also have a degree in Political Science. You can always try to become a lawyer or go into public service. Also, since you have a Bachelor's in English, that will allow for more job opportunities to open up.

As for me, I'm disabled and currently without a job, but I am going to school and getting my Bachelor's (2nd one) in Health Administration so I can work in a hospital or teach.

                              Good luck, man.
