I just played a game in the rain at Safeco Field. Being a die hard M's fan, I can tell you that if someone even thinks the word "rain" in Seattle, they close the roof. Yet there I was on a rain-soaked evening at "The Safe" with the roof open. Am I missing something?

I''m sure it'll be in next year, even more reason to since they added rain this year.Comment

Re: Retractable roofs. Do they close?
That seems pretty rediculous that they would omit something like that since so many stadiums have them nowdays. Even more so since MLB2K5 had retractable roofs."Get out the rye bread and mustard, Grandma, it is grand salami time!" - Dave Niehaus 1935-2010Comment

But the stadiums in 2k5 is less detailed than the ones now. And it's not like they can go just in and add a layer of roof in the stadiums.

Re: Retractable roofs. Do they close?
I understand that. I am just saying that it seems like a pretty glaring omission. Rain has only touched the grass of Safeco Field one time in its 12 years of existance. I would bet that more games/events at Safeco have the roof closed then open."Get out the rye bread and mustard, Grandma, it is grand salami time!" - Dave Niehaus 1935-2010Comment

Re: Retractable roofs. Do they close?
I don't see a "rain" weather option for stadiums that have a retractable roof or solid dome. So it only rains in stadiums with the disadvantage of having it open aired. Works for me instead because I think having a moving roof while the game is going along would cause some major slow down and would kill the fps.Comment

Re: Retractable roofs. Do they close?
One thing to remember is that the stadiums and lighting are incredibly detailed now. I believe I heard that it takes a couple months to create a stadium. Given this, it's not a matter of just slapping a roof on top. It's really not a "glaring omission" like they forgot about it, they just chose not to devote the time to it for '11 and focused on other areas.Comment

Re: Retractable roofs. Do they close?
I have never been on board with rain and opening closing the roof in video games. Rain isnt something we hope for as fans of baseball cause it delays and postpones games. In a perfect world it would never rain and the roof would never have to be closed and that is what we basically have in a video game. opening and closing roofs definitely dont need to be a priority until some other glaring things are fixed.Comment
